There's a blood drive coming up soon and I'm trying to convince myself to go participate.
So, have you ever done it? What was it like?
There is nothing to fear, donating blood is painless and a very good deed. I donate blood every 8 months to the children cancer center.
You will only feel the needle for a sec and then you will feel nothing and the process ends before you even know it (it takes about 2-5 mins depending on your blood flaw)
If you have some physical problems you may not be allowed to donate and the people in charge will tell you that since you will have to fill an application beforehand.
So if you are scared, don't be it is painless and I have done it many times.
goretcki is correct. If you decide to donate they are going to spam you constantly on the phone to donate again. So if you don't have to provide your phone number, don't.
With that being said I have donated blood and plasma. They just stick a needle in you and lets the blood slowly go into a bag. It takes about 15 minutes. Doesn't hurt or anything. However, some do get extremely light headed when they stand up, but the people there are nice and get you water and such. Not a big deal.
Could you feel the blood leaving your body at all? Just thinking about it stresses me out D: But I guess if that's not the case, I'd feel way more comfortable going and doing it
Nah, I'm not sure how they do it, but it drains at a pace where you don't notice it.
I did it once. The last time I tried to donate blood, I was 110 pounds which is the cutoff limit so they went ahead and allowed me to do it but I still felt ill afterwards so I simply never did it again. Of course, this was almost 3 years ago and I now weigh 120 pounds so I might try it again sometime in the future. It really is a good cause, if you meet all of the criteria for eligibility, I think you should do it:)
Yeah I've heard it takes a lot out of you. We had a blood drive in high school and it was no secret if you fainted, lol.
As far as I know I should be eligible, I'm going to go try at least!
Haha! Yes. I didn't actually pass out but I came close. Lol
I voted D, only because I physically cannot donate blood. I have thalassemia (a blood condition), which means receiving blood transfusions save my life. I am ever so grateful to the donors who donated the blood I needed.
Oh wow, well that's great to hear you're able to benefit from people's donations!

The first time did was at my first college. I'd come back from my Dad's business trip to Malaysia, and picked a university in Minnesota to have access to my extended family. First year, no prob.
Next year, I go to give blood again. This time, the blood drive people have a worse map, and don't allow me to because "Malaria zone". So my blood was considered a biohazard for some number of years, I forget exactly how many.
Stuff happened, go back to Michigan, give blood with no problems.
No I haven't, but I have had blood drawn lots of times before for blood work, and it never really bothered me. I may be wrong, but I'm guessing having blood drawn for donation is no different than having blood drawn for blood work, except the needle is left in longer and the blood goes into a bag instead of a tube. I use to be afraid of needles when I was younger, but now dealing with needles is a piece of cake.
I've always wanted to but never had the balls but I had to take a tb test because of international students at my university and the needle wasn't too bad. So I'll go soon.
I would, one day my life might be saved by someone who has given blood so why not, blood tests dont really bother me, I could quite happily sit there while its happening and see the massive period like mess I've created afterwards
I have donated and wish I still could, but my blood is lacking so I no longer can
Aw man, I'm sorry to hear that.
I tried to go before, but they said my iron was too low. I swear every time one of these comes up, it coincides with my period =_=
I've done it multiple times, but they seems to always have trouble getting blood out of me. small veins.
Unless it's an urgent matter, I will not donate blood. I am deathly terrified of needles ;-;
D - I have not donated blood, and I never will, because I can't.
Donated to impress the pretty nurse on college campus but all i got was a few high-fives and a cookie pack !! lol
Hahaha, well it was for a good cause! Keep trying ;)
I have once. I'd do it again, it wasn't a bad experience.
Sadly no I haven't. I keep saying next time but never seem to make it.
I donated once over a year ago and they kept hounding me to come back in.
Same thing happened to my brother, lol. They call and mail our house all the time.
yes i do it after every 5 or 6 months... it makes me feel good...
