I am taking Advanced EMT, and in a matter of just 4 months of education, I can administer intraosseous meds which involves drilling into the bone. But if you were that critical, I don't think you would care.

For IO administration, you don't "drill" you inject the IO needle straight into tibia, femur, sup crest of the iliac or the humerus and administer meds and fluids using the EZ-IO admin set.

Sure hope you're not my EMT if you can't even get the basic terminology right let alone know what you're doing.

Well, you have to pass NREMT first :P. Unless you've already taken EMT and are going for AEMT. There are paramedic programs out there that are pretty short too, and they allow those guys to push drugs that could kill ya.

Yeah, this is EMT-B and AEMT crammed into 4 months. It is an accelerated course. Then I will need to gain reciprocity when I return to my home state, but the NREMT will help with that process.

Ah. I getcha. I just got my EMT in like 10 weeks this past summer. It was a pretty intense class, especially since it's accelerated. A lot of people dropped out haha :P
P. s- I. O isn't used that often. Mostly with people who have bad veins.

Just EMT-B. I'm in the suburbs of chicago, where we have a lot of EMPs, so there's no real need for AEMTs.

Where I am from, they try to staff ALS trucks with 2 paramedics, while the EMTs mainly run the convalescent calls. But I am working with fire/rescue, so I just like running mainly first responder calls. I just assess the pt and provide care until I transfer care to arriving ambulance crews.
