Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI have 2 tattoos, one is a memorial tattoo and one is just for me. They're both in places that are both visible and can be covered up (one on my ankle, the other on the back of my neck). I love them- and I'll admit ink is addictive. I've considered getting another one, but for me they have to be meaningful and I spent a lot of time thinking about the others and their placement- quite literally a year or more for each one.
At the moment, I don't know what I'd get, so it's just a sort of "if I found a design I liked and the right place to put it".03 Reply- +1 y
Yeah ink is big now, has been for quite a while. Not too sure I would want it forever though.
Just saying.
Opinion Owner+1 yYeah, that freaked me out at first too. I know people who jumped on the band wagon when we were like 16, just getting a tattoo to get one, be part of it. I never seriously considered it until a friend of mine passed away and a memorial tattoo seemed a way to hold on to his memory, it being there for life was comforting because he couldn't be. I admit, it's the favorite of the two, though I do love my other one too.

You sound thoughtful. Most might never consider a memorial tat.

I have 3 on my left arm and one on my right arm. An old codename, my first military unit's insginia redesigned into my liking and an emblem of a emperor from a book I read that reminds me to always choose wisely in my decisions. The right arm is an old samurai insignia resembling the way of the warrior code.

Cool, but kindof biker looking, to me anyway.
- +1 y
Yeah, just wait till you see something you won't get tired of. Like I'm from Columbus OH and I'm getting the state of Ohio with the Columbus skyline inside of it in black and the bottom of the skyline will be dripping to the bottom of the southern border of Ohio like it's still wet.
- +1 y
I don't mind, even if I leave Ohio I was still raised there and it still shaped who I am.
- +1 y
No 'kiri, DON'T DO IT!!! Not the serpent skull !!! JUST NO !!!
- +1 y
@TadCurious whyyyyy? it looks so badass... I WANNA BE BADASS! :p
+1 yI have 4 large tattoos..
A pink bow with stars on my forearm
Two large sugar skull-esque cats on the backs of my thighs
Diamonds on my left chest
The 'Liebe ist für alle da' by Rammstein cover art on my ribs
... and I will be getting a few more! But I want to take my time and get meaningful tattoos not just random rubbish ones, waste of space!
Temporary ink? Henna tattoos!12 Reply- +1 y
Do any people/friends/fam/etc say that's too much?
- +1 y
No not really, my parents don't 'love' them but they accept that after a certain age that it was my body to do whatever I wished too and that just because it's not their taste, doesn't mean it's not mine. All my current tattoos can be concealed if need be but I'd rather not, I'm comfortable in my own skin and have never regretted getting the tattoos.
+1 yMy back is covered with a (custom designed) skulled genie/snake/rose design. I also have a feather on my side, a paper plane on my finger and a heart/sword thing on my hip.

So you can't show much of it w clothes on?
- +1 y
Nope all pretty much hidden :)
+1 yNah. I have scars to document the mistakes in my life, without adding permanent doodles on top. :D
Have dated a tatooist though, and her oppinion of what constitutes a good reason to get a tatoo was suprisingly limited.10 Reply

OK that's old already!
Opinion Owner+1 ySorry, I do not have a single tattoo. Though if you met my cousins, they are covered in the stuff, as one of them can do it professionally.

+1 yI don't have any yet, but I have several ideas for tattoos that I would like to get!
06 Reply- +1 y
Sooo tell us your ink ideas. I want to hear.
- +1 y
Okay, well there's this one, cause I'm sooo cool - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/403212972862061170/
Aaaand this one that I'm thinking of getting after I get back from my six-week trip to Europe that's coming up. Something LIKE this one, anyway - media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/.../...713f0a571d08.jpg
I like the idea of getting a skyline on London, or even a skyline of several different places combined.
The above tattoos would go across the underside of my wrist, probably.
Orrrrr I was thinking of getting five owls and one cat perched on a fence to represent my family. That would go down my inner arm.
Probably lame ideas, but I like 'em, haha
Still have to decide on one for sure, and then make sure I have the money for it. - +1 y
The first one looks a little too digital, maybe even geometric.
I like the colors in the second one, and they look a little abstract.
Just please yourself.
You sound nice. - +1 y
The first one would just be meant to look like a heartbeat. So it'd just be a simple black tattoo.
And I absolutely love the look of the watercolour tattoos. - +1 y
It sounds like you are approaching it by thinking and planning. I'm thinking maybe some of the responders may have been under the influence, or chose just on impulse. IDK!
Thx. - +1 y
Yeah well to be honest, the permanence of tattoos really freaks me out, so I want to be absolutely 100% positive that I like the one I get.

How does your fam/bf/etc respond about them?
Opinion Owner+1 yMy family always rolls their eyes before I get a new tattoo but once I have it they pretty much just don't care because it's my body for one and I'm 22 so I'm a grown ass woman ;p
- +1 y
That's good. They are supportive of your decisions even if they don't agree.
That shows lots of love for you, I think.
:))
+1 yI will in a few weeks. It'll be my first I plan on getting it on the inside of my forearm.
03 Reply- +1 y
Just be careful. Lots of companies will not hire you with visible ink.
- +1 y
Meh. If they're that shallow I don't want anything to do with them anyway. Besides I'm going to College for a profession that really doesn't mind tattoo's. ex:My teacher has full sleeves.
- +1 y
Wow! My dad's a professor (adjunct) at a private college and all ink is supposed to be covered. I don't think they are too picky about it but I'm not too sure.
I'll ask him.
thx.
I've got 3 dots on my spine-top, middle, and bottom. I had cancer when I was a kid, they were used to line me up for radiation therapy.
