Alcoholic advice? upset my friend? did I do something wrong?

Ok so my best female friend is a recovering alcoholic. She's about 50 days sober.

i texted her today "hey so im sure you're aware but its strongly advised you do not date for an entire year. just telling ya to take it easy with this new guy :)"

and she replied "mind your own business"

and i said "im just looking out for you"

and she replied "Stop acting like you know everything" and she didn't talk to me for the entire day.

did i actually do something wrong? how should i apologize/what do i do? im sure she knows im being nice but i geuss she got pissed off that i was commenting on her personal life? idk.

If she is an adult and you aren't dating her then it really doesn't concern you. I completely understand where your coming from but sometimes you have to let people do their own thing even if you know they'll fall on their ass. But if you still want to be nice and try being helpful, next time either wait for her to talk to you about it or rethink on how to phrase your words because you did come off a little rude. Especially if you text her at random she was probably annoyed. If you say she's barely beginning her sobriety stage her irritability level may be higher too.

yeah she's my best friend so im not dating her, and im sure she's aware that she shouldn't date yet she told me a couple days ago she met someone, thats why i texted her what i did.

she ended up talking to me later in the day but very short responses and ignored some of my texts

Yeah like I said she may be more irritable but my best friend and even myself would've probably said something similar to you but if we get mad we usually get over it. Especially petty things. It's just a text message. That's kind of whack dislike texting people take what you write differently than you meant it and it's a mess

Having a guy who isn't my dad telling me how to go about my dating life... yea I'd be pretty annoyed.
It's not really your business to tell her what to do about her dating life, just support her in making sure she doesn't relapse. If she wants dating advice, she will ask.
