Absolutely, there is not one good reason for it to be illegal. first off weed is completely harmless. there are 0 long-term effects on body and mind. Next, it would benefit society immensely. Economically speaking, because we could tax it, earning 1.4 bn a year in CA alone! Next, because of all the money we would save from paying law enforcement billions of dollars to arrest pot dealers, growers, and people in possession of, and last, because of all the money we would save from paying to house and destroy the lives of countless non-violent marijuana prisoners. 80% of all drug arrests are merely marijuana possession. The DEA and county/state police don't care about who they arrest, they want to arrest as many people as they can to show the "war on drugs" is working and continue to receive federal grants that pay their salary(look it up). Socially speaking, with marijuana legal, violence and drug-related crimes would plummet. essentially disappear. The only reason there is so much violence surrounding weed Is because it is illegal in the fist place. If it were regulated by the government and sold with the same provisions as alcohol, who would want to kill for that? Back to the health effects of weed, you can repeat back what government-funded, fear-inducing programs like DARE tell you or what the mainstream media says about it, but until you do your own research you'll realize it is completely harmless in the long-run. It's actually an anti-carcinogen, is proven to not cause cancer and perhaps even help fight it. The only negative effects come from smoking papers with the marijuana or burning it, but when you vaporize it or take it in the form of an edible, then you cannot argue any health defects of the drug. Comparatively to MOST LEGAL drugs, it is safe to call it absolutely harmless. No one has ever died from weed. Don't let the pharmaceutical industry and political agenda completely destroy your idea of what is accurately real and what is false.
Here is a link to a document with many links for anyone who says pot should not be made legal right now! link it!.docx.html. If you choose to argue with me, you'll probably lose, but I welcome it because I enjoy informing the ignorant. I recommend taking a look at the links provided and educating yourself first.
Also, use of he drug will go down with legalization, it will lose a lot of its appeal(not that that's necessarily a good thing). Prime example, holland

No, it's much more dangerous than generally thought. And the marijuana now sold is several times more potent than the weed of the sixties.
Gradually, through "improvement" of the cannabis sativa by Dutchmen it has become a hard drug. They used the methods used for improving their flowers and potatoes and sold the "improved" seed worldwide)
One of the leading British newspapers campaigned a certain time for depenalization but changed his position as new evidence came up: link
"skunk" as potent cannabis is called in the UK has replaced the old weed: link
More and more evidence about mental illnesses caused by pot: link
Cannabis is linked to testicular cancer too (the link with lung cancer was already established long ago: it's 7 times more cancerigenous than tobacco): link
I think we should..
After all es just a plant..
Whenever in doubt just pull it out - puff puff. jaja I joke =P
People be asking 'why should marijuana be legalized?" but we should ask "Why should marijuana be illegal?"
Individuals deserve the right to decide whether or not they should use marijuana. The government should not tell individuals what to do as long as they do not harm others..
Although I haven't smoked it. I think it should be. I heard its good for pain and other health reasons. Yes It may have some bad side affects to it but doesn't all meds have that?. Since I live in Louisiana asking my doctor for it would be out the question, I have really had pains and no meds help me and I would hope that they would legallize it one day because I know others are in the same spote as I am.

Yes, but it should be smoked only in certain areas (just like cigarettes should be) so us non-smokers don't have to breathe it in. Marijuana is the only illegal drug that I really support legalizing though, all the other drugs destroy peoples' lives too often and are too dangerous.
I really don't want to inhale second-hand marijuana fumes on the sidewalk like there's cigarette smoke now.
I've never smoked it, and I don't ever plan on doing so. However, there are positive by-products to such legislation: if the Federal Government legalized and taxed it like they do with alcohol, that would be a helluva solution to the economic recession we have, due to additional surpluses and less taxation devoted to funding overcrowding prison systems resulting from the prosecution of marijuana users. So on a socio-political-economic standpoint, there would be perks to it on that level.
I really would rather it wasn't. We already have alcohol. Isn't that bad enough?
if you wanna smoke pot legally, go to Holland.
