My OB office has/had 4 OBs, 2 that are male and two female. I had to see all of them throughout both pregnancies. Hated it when I had to see the male OBs when I was pregnant with my son. My primary (female) ended up delivering. However, with my daughter, I only saw my primary and then saw one of the male OBs more than her and he delivered my daughter. With both pregnancies when it came time to push, I didn't care who was in there. And now I primarily see the male OB I had when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Im from the uk and when i was in labour a male doctor came in to check down there i screamed at him to get out so i would say no deffo dont want a male it makes me feel uncomfortable

My wife's OBs were male. Many of the staff (nurses, etc) were male and conducted (intimate) exams, sometimes with me there, sometimes not. I had not problem with it at all. Many of our family doctors were female and that did not bother me. I even had one urologist who was female. If they are qualified and in good standing. there is no reason to lay hate on them due to gender.

Interesting So if you went into an emergency labor (the baby has to come out NOW) and the only OB doctor there was male and the OR staff included men, you would stand up for your beliefs and let the baby (and possibly yourself) die?

Paramedics, the majority of whom are men, deliver babies all the time. Obviously, the back of an ambulance is less than ideal, but there is a long standing precedent. Anyhow, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Nah... I hate delivering babies. I've only done it twice. I had to help emts on a call.
