I feel really ashamed for using a tampon? what should I do?

I have tampons, my mom knows I have them.. she's the one who bought them. I wanted them, when I put it in though.. I felt really guilty and I was really scared. It came with instructions and I don't feel it so I guess I did it right. How can I stop this guilty feeling? Did you feel this when you first used one?

Do you feel guilty because you are inserting something into an area that is also used for sexual pleasure? I wouldn't be too concerned. Unless you are using the tampon as a sex toy then you got nothing to worry about. It's a natural cycle for most women and millions experience it every month. Your period is the bodies way of getting rid of the lining that would have been used to cushion your womb and house the egg should you have had an egg fertilized by male sperm.

I'm not a girl so i have never used one. But you should't feel ashamed, literally every girl in the world uses them (except maybe third world countries where they have better things to worry about such as water). Periods are a natural thing for girls and unless you want blood running down your leg or something, you need to use a tampon :)

Not every girl uses them. Some uses pads and some uses menstrual cups.

Kind of the same thing tho right? I mean obviously tampons need to be inserted but they all serve the same purpose.

I think a lot of girls feel all around ashamed or embarassed at first during their periods. It's private, grown up and slightly messy. People make dumb jokes about it. It can even be painful!

Just remember it's totally normal and something almost all females have to go through. You'll get used to it, in time.

Why would you feel ashamed? It's not anything sexualized. It's just for your period, something that we all get (well I don't anymore).
But it took me a while to use on properly.

I use the depo shot. My doctor put me on it because I had heavy periods, and they made me anemic :/

Yeah, birth control can stop them, or make them lighter. I've been on the pills, and they didn't really help. Then I had the IUD, and it made me bleed heavier and longer. Plus, it got misplaced. So I tried the depo and I love it!! :D

I never use those dreaded things. I don't want anything shoved up there... Just no. It feels dirty to me.

I just use pads and skip swimming during that special time XD

Why would you feel guilty for using a tampon? Inserting a tampon is not sex or self pleasuring. That makes no sense.. They are so much better then pads.

Guilt about what? It's not sexual, not losing your virginity, won't give you orgasms. It's just for health.
