Do you think organ donors should be prioritized above non-organ donors on an organ waiting list?

TSIA. do you think this is a fair idea? After all if a person isn't willing to give their organs, why should they be so quick to accept others?

No, if people are waiting on an organ donor list then chances are they don't have organs to give. If someone has a terminal cancer and they need a new heart they can't exactly be organ donors, so why should someone who spent years smoking and screwed up their heart but is an organ donor get it over them?

Because there are other organs that smoking doesn't affect. The only exception I would make is for children.

My point is that you have
person A: Organ donor, coronary heart disease caused by a lifetime of smoking
person B: Not an organ donor, dying of heart cancer
Which person should get the heart? Person A consciously made that decision to smoke, while person B didn't choose to get cancer (I am NOT saying person A meant to get CHD, just that their own decisions led to it, they were the cause)

I would still give it to the smoker.

This is why donor registry goes in the order that the people were registered and the level of necessity. It keeps it fair and unbiased. If the smoker was registered 10 seconds before cancer guy then he can have it, flip flopped the cancer guy gets it.

Anyone who isn't an organ donor has their reasons, they shouldn't be given an ultimatum to do so. I personally am an organ donor. People shouldn't have ultimatums, hence the fact people can't legally be paid for their organs.

Personally, no, I think it should go to those who are in more dire need, regardless of wether they are a registered donor or not.

Just going to throw this out there... they probably want that persons organs. Why are they going to go crazy trying to save that person?
