If people put more effort into exercise and health and not clothes and makeup how much better do you think dating would be?

As a guy, I see many girls relying on clothes and makeup to cover up their imperfections would are only going to be discovered anyway later on. It makes me wonder if they spent their time and money on exercising and such instead of going to malls and such, how much more of a selection guys would have around them compared to the way it is now. I'm sure many girls are hit on by out of shape guys and can see this same question with the opposite gender as well.

I'm in the US where obesity's rampant and insurance companies end up spending fortunes on people who don't live healthy lifestyles and my deductions have actually been getting worse over time. So maybe some countries are better off than I am.

Of course it's not only about looks but anyone who has tried dating someone they don't find physically attractive can see this question they way I do. So assume the rest of the qualities you seek in someone are already there.

Do you think dating would be a lot easier and that you'd have a lot more to choose from?

I think that people should do exercise and get healthy. I'm all for it. But I don't think they should do it for the sole purpose of getting a date. Or for the sole purpose of "beauty". I feel that people's goals nowadays are just to be more attractive. And this leads many of us to do unhealthy things and even hurt our bodies. It is not the correct approach. You have to love yourself and your body before you love someone else.
I guess many people would like it cuz it seems some don't wanna date chubby or obese people.

People would be happier - healthier people ARE happier. Happier people attract more people. More people attracted = more dating potential + ego boost for having attracted more people. Ego boost = happier still. Happy people date happy people and they'd also live longer so they'd be happier longer together.

I don't wear a lot of makeup because I'm too lazy to use all that stuff on my face and I'm not in the greatest shape either... haha. It would be better for their health if they spend less money on makeup. I do spend more money on skin care. Some girls do it because they love make-up.

I put a lot of money and time into both. You can be healthy and still have acne so you wear makeup. You can be active but still have small boobs so you buy a push-up bra.
