If there were an 'End of Life Center' where you could go once you had reached a certain state or stage of mortality, would you go there?

And if you could go there as a couple to end your life together, side by side and holding hands...would you? In a place that was comfy and intimate; something like a cross between a hospice room and a bedroom? With medical professionals present who would just put you to sleep with an injection like we do for our pets? There would be age and health requirements, of course. Not something to do on a whim just because you get depressed. But a place like that sounds infinitely nicer than wasting away in a lonely nursing home or writhing in pain in a hospital. Why don't we have more options when it comes to death?

I would consider orchestrating my own passing.

I think we should let nature takes it's course, regardless of how much suffering is involved.

The state of Oregon actually does that they have a law called the Death of Dignity act and two couples who are terminally ill can go in there and ask to be put to sleep and how they want to be put to sleep like choosing which music, etc.

Yes... and I am surprised that it's not more popular, especially after the media generated by Brittany Maynard and her courageous choice. She shared her final journey with the world, and got to have a say in how she died. Still, less than 760 people have chosen to end their lives on their own terms, and yet thousands die every day. That is surprising to me; and even more surprising is the fact that more states don't allow it.

Yeah I think its cause most people deep down have a fear of death even if they are terminally ill. And yeah it should be legal it more states, but its not now here's what I don't understand how is suicide illegal if that person kill themselves? I mean what would the punishment be for a dead person? LOL and if they attempted to kill themselves and they failed what would their punishment be? If there are any cause if you punish that suicidal person that will only make them even more suicidal some laws are just so stupid lol.

That is a very stupid law. We need to help people get better and not commit suicide if that is feasible for them, or at least help them die an easier death if it's not.

I actually like your idea on this. Is still allows one to retain their dignity. Yea I would consider this as more tolerable than being and a hospital waiting on my end to come.

But in hospice you wait to die; they don't allow you to choose when or how you die. I think getting an injection that puts you to sleep is much more pleasant than starving to death, dying of cancer, or having your lungs fill up with fluid and slowly drowning you. And you could decide when you were ready.

It does happen though. After all what's the point in forcing a 90 old woman who is irresponsible to remain on a ventilator. Everyone knows she's going to die so...
