What's the deal with the Thigh Gap?

Before this website I've never really heard of this so much. Who actually cares about having one?

I had a mini-rant about thigh gaps the other day on here that was pretty much relevant to all of this, so I'll just transfer it over here because it's relevant...

"Fascination and focus on a thigh gap is ridiculous. It has nothing to do with fitness or weight - the only reason weight comes into play is because you can try to 'force one' through anorexia if you don't have one naturally. It is because of bone structure, not fitness level. Specifically, it's about the length of the femoral head, the tip of your femur that acts as the ball joint to attach your leg to your hip. If it's long... gap. If it's short... no gap. Period. It's like deciding forearm length should be a measure of beauty.

If you are fit and healthy, no guy with any intelligence or understanding of biology is going to care if there is a gap there or not, because they will know that it simply a structural thing, not a fitness thing.

If your bones are structured so that you should have one, and you are overweight to the point that you do not, it would be an indicator of a larger fitness issue and some guys may have an issue with that. Likewise, if your bones are structures so that you should NOT have one, and you are underweight to the point that you have one, it would be an indicator of larger issues, and some guys may have an issue with that as well.

A person with any rudimentary understanding of the human body should know that a thigh gap is the same finger length, or forearm length, anything like that, and should not care either way as long as your overall fitness level falls into the fitness category they normally prefer."

honestly its a woman thing mostly they make some huge deal out of it and the average guy like me is thinking of anything but the thigh gap at any one point you actually have a 00000000000000000.1% chance of a guy noticing it in my eyes compared to other assets women have

I have thigh gaps and I have talked to some girls and the are like "OMG, I want your thigh gaps, you are so lucky."... They always ask me what my secret is to having them and I just naturally have them because of my huge hips. I think mostly insecure girls want them and photoshop plays a big part in today's expectations for beauty.

It was invented by women's magazines to make other women feel bad. I haven't met a single guy (online or in real life) that cares about a thigh gap. In fact most of the guys I know think the thigh gap makes a girl too skinny and prefer a woman with a booty.

I have one but I think just calling someone 'fat' because they don't have one is the most stupidest thing ever. Not everyone can have them, I found that taller girls (like myself) can easier have a thigh gap than shorter girls just because of the way we are built and of our proportions. And just because it is so unachievable for some people I think this is an absolutely unhealthy trend and I hope that they will stop it asap.
