If I starts using lighter weight, more reps but still go to my max weight at least one session a week, will I maintain muscle?

I want to starts training with higher reps and less weight for a but, just because I like the size I'm at now. But I'm worried my muscles will shrink since they're not pushing my max weight. But, if I did at least a few heavy sets on my compound lifts like squats once a week, will this work for what I'm trying to do? Say, one day I do squats with more reps, less weight, but then the next leg day I finish that up with a pyramid set until I can only get out one rep?
