It will never work once our head is disconnected from our brain stem we get a few seconds and that's it because we won't have circulating to our head any longer.
The closest thing to like this ever being possible would be for us to have our brain frozen and stored away once we die and in millions years having it attached to a robot... And I don't even think that's going to happen.
Dead bodies the brain helps sends signals to the rest of the body to work electric signals to the nerves and other organs and so on. So as long as the brain is working it could work they are gonna keep the brain's temperature 15-25 Celsius. It could work or not, but it would be interesting to see. If it does work are you for it or against it?
Yeah I see what your saying They will probably use bodies from other countries where people don't really have families or whatever like did you know a lot of the real bones anatomy classes use of course not all of them are real, but are usually from Indonesia? It will probably end up being like how they do it in the black market you know where people sometimes would sell other people's organs. I am no way condoning this, but I mean its not like people really know about how the bones are mainly from Indonesia. And I am guessing they would have very limited options of which body they would pick kinda like a person on a organ transplant waiting list.
No, I dont think its possible because there are too many nerves and other important blood vessels and what not that are connected to the brain. So if a person undergone something like that, they would never be the same, as in the video they may have to be in a chair for the rest of their lives...
Yea. but it only lived for 9 days...
That was back when they didn't have immunsuppressents though it rejected the body because of its different white blood cells now they have drugs so that dose't happen. Would there be lots of side effects from those drugs sure but its better than living in a wheel chair for the rest of your life.
True
But where would the other persons head be...
Thats scary lol I wouldn't want to be that person XD
Thanks ☺
What level of technology we have access to is not something most common people can make a judgement of. Especially since knowledge of bleeding edge technology comes decades after the research, refinement, and testing.
I'm in the I don't know category. I'm actually quite disappointed you @asker didn't leave a position that does not assert any claims.
Science needs more pioneers, that's what make practicle stuff happen.
The guy definitely seems to have a plan, so, if there is someone thaat can make that happen, it's the russian dude.
I hope things go well and history is made.

The Russians did a successful head transplant on a dog in the Space Race era. Lived about 30 minutes before rejecting the new head and dying.
There was one with a monkey actually and it lived for 9 days but that was in the 70's when they didn't have immunosuppressents back then. Did you read the articles and watch the video?

Its possible but there are a lot of factors to consider, just for the simple fact that there are veins and nerves and so much tissue to connect.
I hope the outcome is successful because he's deserving of it. Just by a few things he said in the interview😊
To not talk about religious side , i think this is too crazy to succeed , isn't it? But if the doctor can succeed it and the guy survives all his life than it will be amazing but its remote possibility that it happens..
Yes i did , It still sounds crazy cuz.. we r talking about a head O. O not a simple transplant its a whole head !
It might work but really low chances? Anyway who knows it just sounds so weird right now but maybe in the future it will be as normal as a simple procedure?
If the surgeon suceeds he will be my modal forever lol
But lets say it works which body is he going to use?
They use dead human bodies and a scientist in the 70s did a head transplant on a monkey before and it lived, but died after 9 days cause its body rejected it due to everyone having different unique white blood cells, but they didn't have immunosuppresnts back then like they do now.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_J._White#Research
read this its not long its pretty interesting huh?
I know and i red it its pretty interessting yes , but isn't it against ethics to do so? I mean using dead bodies.. well i can't wait to see the result
There's a chance that it works but it isn't likely to be entirely successful. Even if he survives, there would probably be something wrong with him afterward.
Wow... It might be possible... but I can't imagine what kind of implications it will have.
We're all obviously a bunch of neurosurgeons here at G@G, so clearly we have informed opinions on the matter.
@Squidward, you had mentioned this already! Thoughts?
I don't think the patient will live too much longer after the transplant honestly, but it would be awesome if it works!
@Squidward Yes, I'm just not sure how long the human will last. Do you think it is?
Oh, I know that. @Squidward and I already discussed this a few days ago, specifically talking about the monkey. I still don't know how it'd do. It'd be interesting to see.
@Squidward is it ethical? Of course it is!
I'd gladly donate (or sell) my deceased body to someone who would desperately need a head transplant.
I don't think our technology is advanced enough to try that kind of thing yet. I mean they did try it once with a dog and kept it alive for a couple days but then it died.
ohhh I am more upset! That I WASn't tagged ! lol I am not sure to be honest! I am a negative person so i would say no its not gonna work !
I think it could very well work. Science needs more bravado these days. I really wish we were pushing our limits more, especially in medicine.
Neeeever gonna work.
If people Start doing this, pretty soon, "build your own GF/Bf" would follow
What's NOT wrong with that?
if you wanna kiss a android or have sex with it its not harming anyone. People already have sex with sex dolls this is just one step up. It saves the trouble of having to deal with the opposite genders crap and stupid ridiculous standards and some guys can't get any like me cause we are ugly.
I think its possible. They did so on animals back in the 50' I believe.
I'm almost certain the he'll be fine and the surgery will be a success.
It is extremely risky for the patient, but whether it is successful or not a lot will be learned from the procedure.
That would be fucking nuts. Also why am I tagged in this question?
Its not possible, plus some of your answers are rather bigoted
Damn R. I. P to that patient we not ready yet
shit lets see what happens.
Maybe it could work...
