Had you to wear braces?
I have braces but I don't know for how long I need to keep wearing them :/
I had them for about five years, I think. Top and bottom, and one of those 'active appliance' things that forced my mouth to be wider at the top so everything would fit. That was the best, having my mom wind it open with two turns of a key every night. My whole head hurt.
Protip: Make sure you get a retainer wire put in when the braces come off so all that pain and suffering doesn't spread back out!
Thanks for MHO! This is an active appliance!

The weird little unit in the middle has a key slot. You insert a key (that looks like a pin) and turn it twice, every day at bedtime. This causes those bars linking to the molars to be extended a fraction of a centimetre, gradually making your bones grow wider as you grow, so that there's enough room to accommodate all your teeth.
I wore braces from when I was 10 until I was 12. I don't know why I wanted them so badly, maybe I thought they would be cool. I went to the orthodontist and they said that I had 1 more tooth to lose, so I went home and spent an hour in bed ripping it out of my mouth even though it wasn't wiggly! I bled all over my sheets, but it was worth it, until I actually got the braces and they hurt like hell!
Yeah! I had braces twice! haha
Once in 2nd or 3rd grade because my sister and I went through a phase of pulling out all my baby teeth. So all my teeth were coming in all wrong lol. Only for my bottom teeth though.
When in 6-7th grade, I had a full mouth.
I had braces for a good 6 years but I had a really complex case. Most people are in braces for 1-2 years.

I hated braces. Would always get food stuck in them. Extra painful because my orthodontist was incompetent. Would always go digging through the drawers with the tools they put in my mouth. Miserable experience over all. Colonoscopy is a lot more fun.
No. I wanted to, but the orthodontist told me my teeth are straight enough. Now when I look in the mirror, I see one tooth slightly off and a bit of spacing on the sides.. Maybe I can try invisalign or something.
No but my sister is a dental nurse and she says I need that cause this stupid tooth grew over the top of a baby tooth 😂
I got really lucky and have never needed them. As long as I don't have some freak accident that messes up my teeth I probably never will.
Yep. I got them at age 11 (6th grade) and got them off at age 14 (9th grade). So, I had them for 3 years, 1 month, and 1 day.
I literally just got braces 3 hours ago and I am gonna cry I hate them so much xD
Lol don't worry we'll suffer together
When did u get yours?
I think depending on the situation it can last from 1-3 years
@mntwins66 D: OMG POOR GUY xD
Literally and figuratively, those things hurt
@StopWatchandTime Today I had a hell of a time eating a sandwich.
I'm surprised you could eat the sandwhich to begin with. Maybe you won't have as bad a time with them then, because I could never eat a sandwhich after getting braces.
@StopWatchandTime Lol trust me it was no easy feat. First off all the entire time I thought I was bleeding. And also I had to take the sandwich apart after two bites. I'm gonna lose some weight with these things xD I only eat cuz it's necessary. Plus I was really focusing on a checkers game today and got one of my braces caught on a shirt thread
That sucks. Braces are tough to get used to. I used to salivate a lot when I had them, and my mouth would fill with spit. One or two times they caught on something.
Better than headgear though, that's for sure.
@StopWatchandTime TRUE
I hear the first week is the hardest
Yup. First day I didn't feel much, but the next few days were painful as heck.
Make sure not to eat anything slightly crunchy, or they'll get messed up and the cycle will start all over again.
@StopWatchandTime Uh oh. What about a sandwich?
Sandwhich should be all right, as long as the bread isn't toasted. If the bread was toasted, you'd literally be bleeding by now though, so I'm thinking you didn't toast the bread.
@StopWatchandTime xD no I did not
Alright! Thanks man!
Don't worry girl
You're still young and braces are cute on girls your age 😂 lol
:P :P :P lol
No, but most of my friends did for about 3 years.
Don't be sad, you'll have perfect teeth once they're gone! :)
Yep, I had them when I was younger for about 3 years! It really depends on what your ortho says!
Just remember to wear your elastics if you end up getting them, a lot of the time people forget which makes the whole process even slower.
I got mine in 8th grade and got them off my sophomore year in highschool
I had to wear them for 2.5 years. From 8th to the middle of 10th grade.
Nope, luckily not. First they said yes and half a year later on second check they changed their mind
Yeah I had them for 1.5 years, middle of 8th grade to end of 9th grade year.
I did I wore them for a year!
when i was about 12, for 4 years or so
Never had to. Good luck with yours.
