+1 yI call bullshit on "I don't have enough time...". Case in point #1, you are on this site right now, so, obviously you are not making fully efficient use of yr time.
I bet that, if you put yr mind to it, you can free up AT LEAST another hour or two per day to get some sleep. At least.
Also, you should ALWAYS pick "study less, sleep more" over "study more, sleep less".
Yr productivity rate will tank if you are not sleeping.
This even applies to getting homework and such done. Like, say you have a choice between 3hrs of work and 5hrs of sleep, or 5hrs of work and 3hrs of sleep.
In that case, you should pick the former, because you will get MORE work done in the 3hrs. Yep. Yes you will. That extra sleep will EASILY make you more than 5/3rds as productive as you would've been sleep-deprived.
But, again, this is probably something you can address by other means, as I mentioned in the first paragraph.014 Reply
Asker+1 yNo I seriously don't have time. I don't go to the traditional high school that most students go to. I go to a "smart" people school. All my classes are honors classes and I take classes that are suppose to be taken senior year (In traditional hs) now. I was paid to get in and I have projects after projects and tests after tests and homework after homework. Sure you're right about me wasting time by coming on here but I came because I wanted to take a short break. I came on here just wanted to make sure that it is healthy to do both at once (came to this site for 3 minutes). I literally spent the whole day finishing my homework and all I needed to do was study. You won't understand how much I have to deal with because you probably attend a regular high school.
- +1 y
Lol I graduated in '93. Yeah, I went to a big public high school, and I didn't really do a lot of homework in the first place.
Are you being a perfectionist about the work, though?
Srsly, perfectionism is worse than alcoholism or drug addiction, in terms of its effects on people's lives.
Like, when you are studying for these exams, how much is that last half-hour really worth? Diminishing returns... it's probably worth much less than the rest of the time. If you cut it off, you'd suffer marginally, if at all.
Same with the projects. If you took 1 less hour on them, how much of a difference would it really make? Etc.
I mean, there are basically 2 situations here.
#1, yr doing all this work just to scrape by,
#2, yr being a perfectionist.
If it's #1, then you should just take a more realistic class schedule. Trust me, if you take, like, 3 fewer AP classes, it's not gna matter in yr life at all. A lot of colleges don't even give credits for that stuff. (contd) - +1 y
If it's #2, then, that's gna demand some self-exploration, introspection, etc. Because, srsly, life hates perfectionists. Life is all about trade-offs, and balance, and picking yr battles -- and that doesn't mean ALL the battles, lol.
Asker+1 yI'm not a perfectionist. I just take my education very seriously. Plus school is a lot more difficult toady compared to your generation.

K, well, good luck.
Asker+1 yThanks but what I don't get is you didn't even answer my question above. What is the point of this comment anyways?
- +1 y
Original question? No, yr probably better off separating them. As soon as yr exercise gets past the "I'm breathing too hard to have a continuous conversation" point, yr ability to pay attention to the material will tank. Conversely, if you have to exercise in a way that physically conforms to looking at study materials, then that exercise will suffer, too.
Much better off separating them.
But, the real point was that you shouldn't have to face this dilemma, because prioritizing.
I mean, look, I know the kind of school you go to, and I can tell you that there is NO WAY that every single kid in yr school does that much work.
If that were true, then the parents would not stand for it -- and the parents ultimately call the shots, because the parents supply not only the tuition but also the $millions in gifts that allow the school budget to run.
Really, the collective parent body would mutiny, if every single kid was doing that much work.
There's no way.
Asker+1 yActually many people I know stay up until 4 in the morning... I on the other hand, stay up until 11 and 12. So there actually is way that we are doing that much work.
Asker+1 yYou know what whatever let's just end this now. It's getting very annoying.
- +1 y
Ok.
Good luck.
Asker+1 yThanks ^_^

@Asker Are you saying people who do not go to a school like yours are not smart? Not getting enough sleep is your own fault. You make it seem like you are up past past midnight. What time do you go to bad and get up on a regular basis?
Asker+1 y@funny_strange_man Dude are you seriously going to start a fight. I am seriously sick of this just stop please. No that is not what I am saying. I am saying that this person does not understand how it is with my life and does not to have to assume that I waste time. She wasn't even answering the question. Just stop already I'm not in the mood. Just answer the damn question and leave this post. -_-
Asker+1 yBy the way if you're not sure what the question is here I'll restate it for you "Is it okay to exercise and study at the same time?"

+1 yPhysical exercise may keep you awake. However, it also may distract you.
A common thing I hear is "multitasking." Psychologically speaking though, it is more so divided attention. As far as I know, the brain doesn't really do two complicated higher process things at once, it just switches between two things.
So as long as the exercise doesn't take away too much attention, I would say it is perfectly fine.15 Reply- +1 y
It does, though. Try it sometime. As soon as you get to "I'm breathing just a bit too hard for normal conversation" intensity, yr processing and concentration are pretty much fucked. Can still read TMZ, tho.
lol - +1 y
@redeyemindtricks That makes sense. Your brain probably puts more focus into the physical activity and functions and has less power for higher level processing such as studying...
TMZ probably doesn't require too much effort to read though LOL - +1 y
You have the right idea, but, I think yr underestimating the steepness of the decline. It's not just for relatively intense things like studying.
Like, I rigged up a lapdesk onto the remnants of a backpack, to make a "wearable desk" for treadmills and such. (Competition season sucks.)
Running the treadmill at 3.3mph 10º incline, I could still do things like e-mails, but already couldn't process pubmed articles and such. At 3.7mph and 10º I couldn't even do e-mails anymore, and e-mails are practically automatic processing for me.
Asker+1 yYeah I tried it and it didn't distract me too much. It really depends on what I am studying.
- +1 y
@redeyemindtricks I haven't done much research on it. It seems like an interesting concept however and I'm sure psychologists have studied it before. I'll have to do a google search on it!
I wouldn't prefer it... Either you read or you exercise. You can't really really concentrate if you exercise while reading. If you can, you are not doing your exercises well enough. While doing gymnastics you need to put your mind into it to hit the right muscles. Same if you read, you need to sit down and concntrate 100% on what you're reading to get the most out of it.

Asker+1 yYeah I just need to memorize for that class. I would always say the sentence out loud and do basic cardio such as jumping jacks to memorize it.
