Getting your wisdom teeth out?

Getting my wisdom teeth out so I'd like to hear some experiences! I'm getting sedated because I have all 4 impacted. How did you feel after, how long did it take you to feel normal, did you swell up like a chipmunk, bruising, etc?

I had mine taken out. I was put under. I don't remember the day. I do know, however, that apparently I went to my now boyfriend's house on that day and I woke up the next day with a boyfriend... but you know he won't tell me what went down that day. I am pretty sure we went swimming/ in his hot tub lmao

I did not bruise. I did not swell. I did absolutely everything they told me NOT to do (drink out a straw, drink hot beverages, eat chips, not go right to sleep, go in an extreme climate, and do physical activity). Apparently I was supposed to take it easy for a few days. But I didn't.

I felt mostly normal the next day and completely normal the day after... minus the taking of Vicodin of course :p

I did a take on getting my wisdom teeth taken out last spring. Going back and reading it now it's pretty funny, you can tell I was drugged when I wrote it!

Never had an issue with wisdom teeth myself, but my daughter had to have two removed on one occasion, and one out on another. The recovery time was very quick with her both times. No swelling at all, no bruising, etc. If you didn't know she had them out, you couldn't tell. The second time she had it done, she walked out of the oral surgeon's office under her own power and ran several errands afterwards. She was sedated both times, not so much the 2nd time, though.

Not only did I get my wisdom teeth pulled out but i had a couple more too. At first you won't feel it once you wake up but after that it's a painful process, you'll won't be able to eat solid foods or some soft foods for some time plus you should always make sure to keep food out of the exposed areas so you won't get an infection. And yes your cheeks will be swell for some time

Had all four of mine removed at once andd I wasn't even put to sleep. Bottom 2 were impacted and had to be cracked to be removed. Top two were pulled out. The anesthesia lasted a long time but when it wore off, I had intense pain where the teeth were and my jaw hurt tremendously.

I had surgery to get one wisdom tooth out, it was the first surgery I did. The dentist put anesthetic in my mouth, only on the side of my wisdom tooth , so I was aware of what was going on. It didn't hurt, I just felt pressure and a pulling sensation when he pulled my tooth out. The he stitched it. Afterwards the side of my mouth was swollen and numb, and I was talking with a funny accent. After the surgery I went out for a coffee lol. In 2-3 days the swelling went away. I also had to eat soups the first days. And I kept my tooth in a box. I think it's best to remove one tooth at a time, and do it when your tooth is not infected and aching.

I got all 4 of mine removed. After surgery my face swelled and turned purplish/red. I looked like a giant red tomato. After surgury my mouth and jaw felt num and I felt lightheaded so I couldn't walk straight. It took me about 2 weeks for all the brushing to be gone. You will be given a bag of gauge to soak in blood.

During that period whenever I went out, I got weird looks and a stranger came up to me and asked If I was OK because of my swelling.

Also your diet will be liquids. What I had was thick smoothies, jello, ice cream, congee (rice brooth) and sadly baby food (which tasted so gross).

It's same as any operation
best to be asleep
pain killers will do the job later
wear nothing furry, else this will trap any gas employed and keep putting you back to sleep at home!
lots of ice/gel packs
books to read, movies to distract
jello, et al.
next day = much improvement
and accelerates from there b/c the mouth is the fastest healing area

Keep your cheeks iced 24/7. Really keeps the swelling down, because of that I didn't swell.
The anesthesia did make me feel queasy on the drive home, but that's a personal thing.
I didn't bruise. It wasn't so horrible. Just listen to what they say about what you can and can't eat.

Oh it was AWFUL!! haha sorry. God it was awful. I have 4 impacted (within gums) wisdom teeth pulled, heavy sedation that had me knocked out too long after the surgery. I was like falling over my feet for a couple hours even after waking up.

Then I was on an all soup/yogurt/ice cream diet for like 2 weeks, constantly with gauze and taste of blood in my mouth lol ya sucked.

It was one of the best times of my life. Spending a week or so high as a kite one vicodin and watching television. I did end up getting a dry socket, which hurt like hell, but I got it fixed up quick. I had a blast.

I had all four taken out at once. i was out cold for the surgery was sore for a couple days. but it actually wasn't very bad at all with way they extract them nowdays

It's nbd. I went in midmorning and was eating soup that night. I think I was Vicodin in like 3 or 4 days. I think i had swelling but I don't really remember XD

I've heard you won't be able to eat too well for 3 days.

I have one impacted wisdom tooth, haven't had the courage to get it out yet.

Depends on the person. I was out of it for half day. After that I was fine, other then some soreness in mouth.

I have all four of mine in normal. I didn't get them out... Yet but they don't seem to bother me wish I could help lol

I'm getting all four of mine removed at the end of the month. My gums would swell up a lot just from them growing in so I know my mouth will be swollen. Not looking forward to it at all.
