Say your job , and if you've noticed weight gain.
Have you blamed your job for gaining weight?
Say your job , and if you've noticed weight gain.
For gaining muscle weight yeah, I had a hard labour job last summer and I looked like a fitness model by the end of it and I am 100% sure it was the job lol. But if you go from riding your bike to university every day to driving to work and sitting in a cubicle then yeah they job may be keeping you too sedentary and it may be making you fat. Especially if you work over time at an office and then don't even have time for the gym!
I used to manage some 75 employees. Had to take the stairs up and down all day long and such, but the job still put pounds on me because we'd work a lot of events, and each event would leave behind whatever catering they had and since I was always running around working 10 hour days, it was all too easy and much more convenient to just eat whatever was left behind which was never bowls of carrots, that's for sure.
I don't fully blame my job but it is definitely easy to gain weight where I work. I work in a lab as a manager so half of the time I'm sitting at a computer typing reports or the other half of the time I 'm sitting at a piece of equipment collecting data/evidence. I work there 10 or so hours a day So that's a lot of sitting. I blame myself for eating like crap most for gaining weight more though.
I used to walk around a lot at my job and my feet would be a little sore at the end of the day, but now I'm in my own room and it gets pretty sedentary. I don't blame it though, who makes excuses like that? it's 8 hours out of the 24 hours in a day, once you're off work go and exercise. Eat right and you won't be gaining as much weight by sitting down all day.
that is a lot more difficult, but still, it's like how can anyone make excuses after seeing those inspirational pictures of a mom with 3 kids, full time job and everything, and she is still fit, and then it says at the bottom, "What's your excuse?" lol

I don't blame my job fully, but, when I worked as a teacher, there were so many goodie days and days where teachers brought in leftovers from holidays or special occasions. It was hard to not eat a bunch of the food that was brought in, so I did gain weight there. However, it was my choice to eat the food, so it's really my fault, hah.
I'm a receptionist/medical assistant, and I'm seated for most of my 8 hour work day. I have not gained any weight at all since starting my job, because I eat to match my calorie expenditure, even when I'm not doing much exercise. It's not overly difficult.
I work a desk job, but I have an hour long lunch. This gives me the perfect window of time to go running 3 days a week. Plus I brought in a toaster oven to work so I can make a lot of frozen meals and avoid eating out.
Other than these 2 perks, I can see how a desk job can lead to major weight gain. Nothing quite like when I worked a summer camp and ran all day long, but I have to make it work somehow
I haven't had that problem because every job I've ever had was extremely active (I don't like sitting still) but I would imagine if I did have a job like that, I would be very prone to over-eating (compared to my activity) and of course would cause weight gain. I eat all day everyday at work, but it kicks my metabolism in gear from the activity. On my days off I don't eat until almost 5pm because I'm not doing as much.
When I was 19, I started delivering pizzas and gained so much weight from it. The lack of much physical labor plus the lack of lunch breaks - which meant if I got hungry, I'd have to just to through a drive through - really did me in.
Anyway, I lost that weight, but I've gained about half of it back since moving in with my boyfriend lol.
Not so much the lack of movement, but the social requirement of it - Going out for drinks after work, working dinners/lunches, team bonding events etc. I end up eating a lot of restaurant food which is usually very calorific and drinking a lot of alcohol.
To actually answer your question, I'm an engineer who works in an office 75% of the time. No i haven't gained weight since i find time to work out, but it's a lot of effort just to maintain.
There is a noticeable difference between some jobs. I've had jobs where I was on my feet all day and would lose weight like a cancer patient if I didn't eat like 4000 calories and other jobs were I'll gain weight eating 1800 calories... So I'd say it's reasonable to place the blame with the job. It takes up a large portion of every week.
Office worker. There can be some physical activity (moving things around, we get a lot of samples delivered so those need to be picked up) but yes, for sure, weight gain would be inevitable.
To combat this, I make my own lunches and they're pretty small (salads and small sandwiches), I go to the gym regularly, I ride my bike on the weekends. I've lost weight and gained muscle as a result!
Office jobs aren't fitness friendly that's for sure. They think they are nice bringing donuts for the department, those fucking assholes I hate them lmao
Well I haven't gained weight but I know other coworkers who had because they like to enjoy eating junk food eitehr for lunch or they bring to their desk as mid morning and mid afternoon snacks and what most of the time for those half times t are chips, dough turnovers, sodas, cookies, etc.
The actual opposite. I work with children so there's a number of hours of outdoor time, and play time and what not. I've lost just over 21lbs because I'm constantly on my feet running around. I don't mind it though.
Information Technology: Working from home a lot yeah I get a little lazy. Most days I wake up, take a shower, then just get back in bed and do work on the laptop until whenever. Other days I'll go to the beach, swim a little, do some work on the computer and it all balances out. I haven't really gained wait but I'm more than likely loosing muscle mass.
At some point you will notice that you gained weight because you eat more than you should, not because you did not move around more.
People blame a lot of things on anyone or anything but themselves in this world.. the job did not put on the extra pounds.. they themselves allowed it to happen that way
Vietnam veterans of america for a while as my only job all i did was sit in a chair for a long ass time at home an call people nonstop i gained 20 pounds that year
Yes, I had a job that caused me to gain wait. I was moving around all day but the hours and lack of proper breaks really affected my eating habits. Luckily I am out of there now.
well.. it could be the cause... I gained a lot of weight... having also some issue bounded to being overweight, like lbl... and now after a long workout I lost about 30 kg
I work in an express coffee shop and I'm always standing. The unlimited free coffee is taking a tole on my skin though.
Work can drain your energy and prevent you from working out though. It's hard to balance exercise and work.
it's nobody's fault but the individual for their weight gain or loss. . that's like saying a fork made me eat that triple cheeseburger or whatever.
Actually, my job still weigh's pretty much the same as when I started. Though I will admit a lot of the magic has gone missing.
Not a job but I'm studying baking /desserts/ pastries at hospitality school. Someone has to eat all the food...
I'm a substitute teacher, and I do my best to stay on my feet and walk around, and avoid sitting at the desk all day.
So no I haven't gained weight.
It depends on your behaviors , but you can keep fit by using sweet belt if you don't have time to do some exercises

I used to be a small time actor. Everyday after filming, the director wanted to eat and drink a ton. Gained 30 lbs.
I blame my weight gain mostly on pita chips really.
I've gained weight, but it has nothing to do with my job. It's because I keep putting the wrong damn foods in my body.
Yes at one time in the past I put on 20+ lbs because of the sedentary job. I have since changed my routine to lose the excess weight & keep it off.
I blame myself for letting my depression take over my weight and my spirt. I know I know... but its just so hard sometimes.
My sweet, are you getting help for your worries?
good:)
dude if you´re not some official food taster or chef, blaming your job is stupid xD it means you´re getting lazy. that´s not the jobs fault.
yes office jobs are shit for health.
but i go to the gym and take care... its not enough as its best to be moderately active throughout the day for health
not only did i NOT gain weight since i started my job, but i actually lost weight xD and i am a program developper (all day in a chair typing on a keyboard)
I bus tables, so no. I'm on my feet and moving too much to get fat.
My job is very sedentary, but I don't blame it for my weight gain.
why do people sit at their desk to eat lunch on beautiful sunny days.
I sit at a computer for eight hours, and then I sit at my computer at home until I go to bed. I've gained weight, buy I'm starting to not care anymore.
Absolutely. Since I started biking to work I've gained a lot of muscle mass. Life is so hard.
No because I move around I dont sit at my job to much
If I gain weight, I'm at fault not my career.
But no, since I'm on the move for 9ish hours, I'd say it helps me lose it if anything.
Yes. In the winter time I spend too much time inside sitting at the pc.
I guess I could but I never have bothered even with thinking that thought.
Actually I blamed it for losing some. :(
._. I work in a grocery store, so yes
Haven't gained weght.
weight*
Nope I lost weight working
I don't blame my job directly because of it
I think I'm losing weight with the job I have now.
coffee, donuts, diners... yeah
What's your weight btw?
Ohk... i assumed it must be 15 stone+ and that is why you're asking a this question.
A desk job definitely makes one gain weight. Especially around the waist and neck areas.
Those who say it doesn't, haven't really worked in that particular type of work to answer. Its got more to do with one sitting in one place and eating your meals. The answer is food makes one fat and not just a job.
Truck drivers traveling long distances are normally fat and sometimes even obese, especially because most of them are eating at either motels or its a Packet of fries and burgers. Most types of food can be broken down by physical activity, Even today i get to see old senior men and women at get together s eating traditional foods like there will be no tomorrow.
On a personal level our generation won't be able to handle that 30 years down the line.
Our foods are colas, Processed meat and cross pollen seeds which are already creating havoc to our bodies.
I personally think that we are in deep shit and there are already plans of cutting down the population growth by some behind the scene forces.
I am fit
