What do you think of people who are slightly overweight going to the gym?

I'm only about 20 pounds over weight but I feel insecure going to the gm. For all those gym goers... What do you think when you see someone overweight in a gym

Currently due to my health I'm more than a little heavy compared to my normal weight. Though amusingly enough when I was a bodybuilder I was just as heavy though then it was all muscle.

When I first went to the gym it wasn't due to my weight. Though I was loosing some post natal fat from having a baby. Though I had trained in martial arts I had been in a fight where the other person was just plain stronger and bigger than me. I partly bulked up for that so it wouldn't be a problem again. But at the time I was also in competitive sports and I wanted to challenge the system. It was rare to have women in the upper weight class but plenty of men. I was trying to force mixed gendered boxing and mixed martial arts into the competitions. Eventually one country allowed it and I could be judged on ability not gender. Eventually I left that sport due to work assignment in the military. Then I left sports all together because of injury.

There are people in the gym for lots of reasons. Some training for different classes in sports like I was, or for self defense, weight loss, and for rehab. I have been in there for all of those. Right now I don't go. I'm having problems keeping with it because of my health issues and sometimes it does feel like I'm going nowhere with it.

Go to a gym and you will see there are many people working on their weight. You will actually see more people that need training than supertrained people.

As long as they're not sitting at a machine just on their phone and they restack the weights properly then I don't care.

But it really pisses me off when people just are using certain weights or machines and aren't actually working out on them. They're just hanging out on them and wasting so many peoples time who want to actually be working out on them. This has been happening a lot to me recently. It's infuriating.

Well Planet Fitness makes a point out of not being judgmental they will even kick people out for excessive grunting or dropping weights like some bodybuilders are known to do.

Anyone who criticizes heavy people in a gym is an idiot. They're there to better themselves and should be encouraged!

i respect anyone going to the gym on the regular regardless of weight but only if i see them putting in hard work,

they could even be super obese. gym is for getting in shape. the fatter (or more unmuscular) you are, the more respect i have for your decision to still go.
