With whom should transgendered male-to-female women compete in sports?

Question

I know that this is a sensitive and probably controversial issue, but I'm just curious to know.

Transgendered people obviously want to be accepted as the gender they associate with. But a male-to-female woman certainly has the advantage with physical strength.

So when it comes to sports, with whom should they be allowed to compete? Competing with women would obviously give them the physical advantage, and competing with men may be termed discrimination.

To me it only makes sense if we segregate the sexes to do it by sex, not by gender, so I voted that someone born as a male (sex-wise) should fight with males.

Males and females differ physiologically in areas like muscle mass and bone density, joint flexibility, etc. which cannot be reversed at the moment through surgery and hormone treatments.

It's like if a silverback gorilla was born believing he was a cat in a gorilla's body, that doesn't necessarily mean silverback gorillas should be fighting cats even if he gets a surgical tail implant or whatever.

The alternative to me is no holds barred. Desegregate the fights completely and make it so men and women compete head-to-toe, perhaps using weight division handicaps to mitigate the likelihood of serious injuries (ex: matching a heavier woman against a lighter man).

It's a very messy question. Ultimately the women's category in general is... Not all that clearly defined at the edges. It's basically a handicapped race and now we are talking about how severe your handicap has to be. Of course people don't like thinking about it that way.

The athletic advantages of having had higher testosterone can last decades after hormone levels are brought down. Similar to the long term athletic benefits of steroid use.

they would compete in the woman's category because that's who they are. advantage or not, the woman's category is where they belong.

its like saying a born female athlete who is strong with fitness levels similar to man shouldn't compete in a woman's category. no difference

male, obviously. cause otherwise men would just claim thei´re transgender in many sports to win more easily... if he takes hormones or something, he can´t compete at all, cause those count as doping.

How about let the transgender male - to female make the choice. With me I will who choose ever has the best performance. Example in 100 yard dash women do it 10 seconds men do it in 8 seconds I would compete in the men's division. If the women were faster than men then I will compete with the women. Woman Lifts 200 lbs , men lift 300 lbs I will compete with the men. If the women were stronger than the men then I would compete with the woman. My goal undisputed winner. But that's me
