If you are determined to loose the weight, it doesn't matter how long it takes. The most important thing is to change and improve your eating habits. Interval training is good, as well as running. Lift some weights too. Don't exert yourself too much, to the point you're so sore you can't walk. Start easy and gradually make it harder. Ask advice from the gym instructor. Be consistent, don't skip your workouts. Exercise 3 times per week.

To loose weight, do low intensity cardio for long periods (min 30 min, 1 hour is better) like running, biking, swimming. High intensity is better for fitness and weights are to tone your muscle
Cutting back on sugar and a good diet should really help with losing weight. Don't force yourself too much and always do something different like on Monday, legs & abs workout and on other days, some weight lift and cardio.
