I actually had to ask my mom about it in my late teenage years. When you have a cake, it is merely in your possession, but once you eat it, it is gone; therefore you do not have it any longer. That's why you can't have your cake and eat it too >_<

Oh, army ant xD. Halfway digested cake is for the birds. Stomach acid tends to take things from their original forms and change them; therefore still not cake :(
