Help me out with the Piggies, please

Ok so I live with in a house full of guys, brothers. There is constantly partying going on in the weekends, and big dinners in the weekdays.

I'm usually stuck cleaning the aftermath of it all

Just Imagine all the drinks people drink.

I used to not mind, I mean they are my brothers, and I am used to it, but lately I've been getting really pissed off at this.

I tell them to pick after themselves, and they say they don't care, if I clean it or not.

Today I was cleaning and I saw a used condom in the bathroom, they didn't properly dispose of it, and one of their friends was teasing about how it was mine, I went off on him and so did my brothers and made him clean it up. LOL it was funny but I'm still pissed at my brothers.

I tell em it's beginning to be a hassle. They don't care.

Can any one suggest any ideas on how I can get em to help, at least a little.

I've found that I'm fairly neat, but by my standards and time table. With nagging, I'm a messy guy. Before you laugh, let me explain. I moved out to go to an apartment in college. The place was a fairly unsafe mess; I cleaned up a lot of that stuff on moving day.

Throughout the semester, we were supposed have surprise inspections once a month (rare); but, we had our own time and on our own routine to clean up; I wasn't nagged into it. I was a lot more willing to clean up when I wasn't "nagged" into doing it. When I had some free time (rare), I'd clean - just naturally. In fact, our apartment was so clean that we'd have surprise guests constantly - we were the "model" apartment for potential students, I was just naturally that clean.

Let me say that my mother is a huge nag. She'll insult you like crazy, (you're a lazy slob!) then nag you every two minutes until you do it. So it's rare that I can ever get to anything on my own because she'll notice it; insult and nag before I can possibly get to it. This NEVER works.

I've I'm nagged into it, I REFUSE to clean it up when my mother demands I do it. I'm working, so let me do it in a few hours. Having some clothes on the chair won't kill you when no one is coming over today, and I'll have it done by tonight. I don't think it's a sin if I do the laundry, set it up on a chair, and then take care of it piece by piece by piece over that day. To her, I have to instantly take a big bulk of clothes and clean it right away within minutes. Sometimes I just want to take a little break. My own terms are not unreasonable, but she doesn't get that.

According to her, my apartment in college was the worst pig sty on the face of the planet- and yet she can't come up with an answer as to why we always succeeded with surprise inspections, and why our apartment was the apartment to promote to future students without her on my case.

Nag me into it, and you'll get more resistance. Let me do it on my own time, and I'll be a lot more agreeable.

Another method that works for me: "The plumber needs to get into your room to work - I made an appointment for three weeks from now." - Fine. I have time, and I can spread out my cleaning so that it's not a huge chore later. That's asking, and it's different from insulting me, attacking me, then nagging me constantly until I do it but resent the obligation and interruption.

Yelling won't work as much as just letting them do their own thing. Now; that being said, you do have a right to expect some cleanliness. So. public areas should be cleaned. 1 idea is to get them to turn on each other; make fun of them (like with the condom), get the brothers to make fun of the other, and you'll do better. Another idea is to have an area of your own that's clean and entertain there; just let the rest get dirty; they'll have to clean it themselves.

Or, you can save up and go out more to eat and hang out, or you'll have to move out and let them rot on their own.

This makes sense, I do have my own room and is the cleanest place in the house, but I have a lot of friends come over, and it's disgusting and embarrassing. So I clean to make it as comfortable for them.

I work and have enough savings to move out, but my brothers won't let me since I'm still 17, I'm planning to move out when I'm 18.

Get revenge! I have a twin brother and he is a slob and he doesn't care. Although I don't live with him now; I did. We were both very sadistic and would think of mean things to do to each other. So if you are the vengeful kind of person, then you can consider the following as an option.

Take their messes and throw it into their rooms on the floor and on their beds (especially if it's old food). Warn them first by saying, "if you don't clean your mess up now, I will throw it in your room!" Then don't let those words be just a bluff; actually keep your word.

This will not change until you stop cleaning up after them. They expect you to do it and you do it every time. I don't care if you have to go spend a few weeks at a girlfriends house or something but you let them clean up after themselves like adults.

Obviously they refuse to acknowledge what you are doing and are certainly not grateful for it. Let their next party be trash filled and you take a break.

I know it will be hard to walk over the mess but unless and until you let it sit until the neighbors call the cops because of the smell, they will just wait for you to clean it up.

Maybe if they cleaned up for a change, they wouldn't let their friends destroy the house. You are not their mother and they are not little kids who can't do for themselves.

LET THAT CRAP SIT UNTIL THEY CLEAN IT UP!

situations like these are kinda useless lol considering I have the same problem I am a total neat freak!

what I suggest is don't do a think leave the mess out and let it sit there soon it will build up until the house is no longer able for parties are anything then maybe they will clean up!

I wouldn't put up with this but on my end of things. I have no siblings and I AM a neat freak, so I guess I sorta lucked out. As the girls have said, stop doing the clean up.let the stuff pile up (kinda like a Sanitation Worker Strike :) and then just act blase' about it.You might have go out to eat for say a week or so, reason being you won't have much in terms of clean dishes.OR resort to paper plates/plasticware until the brothers start cleanin up. If they ask why you aren't cleanin up. Just say "I don't feel like it" and pat your stomach and throw in a belch (just kidding) but yeah - If you act obnoxious like they do they might realize that they're "lookin into the mirror" so to speak.
