It depends. You will need to build that stamina. First month there is no way you will be able to pass 2:30 min plank. First half month you will barely be able to do it properly to reach 30 seconds. A lot of people thinks that plank is simple and easy and a lot of them does plank wrong specially when they start and get tired after 10 seconds.
So for 8 minutes plank you will need to work a lot to get there. One month would be enough if you would have stamina to do it every day, but in most cases that is not what happens.
with the folded arm plank i do 10 second hold with 1 second break in between, set of 10 then straight arm plank 30 second hold, alternate one arm
yes first time doing this excercise or any tbh. just started yesterday. no pain but hard to pace breathing. feeling slight muscle soreness in core. wish i had more padding for elbows when in folded arm position. no sweating.
I am sorry but it just a little bit hard to believe because people that were coming in groups to fitness had really big issues. And 10 sec in three series really hard for them. I dont see how would a beginner manage to 8 min in 3 series at all when on first three series of 10 seconds people have issues holding their feets straights and ther back starts to go more toward the ground and their knees looses. But if you can do it thats great then. Yeah I believe you could lose around 1kg to max 2kg per month on your belly and upper legs.
my body was really shaking the first day and i can't do push ups at all but i can do planks for so reason
You need to do cardio. But I saw you said you cannot do cardio. So you need to restrict caloric intake. Doing planks is not going to do anything and neither is walking, that stuff is so minimal.
that's what i thought but a trainer friend told me 8 minutes a day is enough and i'll start to see results in a month
There are two kinds of trainers. Those that give you "feel good" exercises and things that make you feel like you are doing something. And those that give you real advice that actually works but its never what you want to hear and it mostly sucks. ie. yes you are fat, no walking doesn't do shit, and you need to put down the ice cream, candy, and calorie dense foods. lol all the stuff nobody wants to hear
i told him i don't want to bulk up or have any visible muscle, i am not looking to be "toned". i just want to be thinner. i've never dieted and always naturally weighed less than the japanese female average weight for my height and i don't gain weight easily, never been overweight but just don't like certain areas
You need to have a healthy diet, drink water , regualar workouts incuding cardio and weights and stuff like that. you'll see some results, but progress will be slow and plateu if you dont change things up and keep upping the difficulty
already drink 2L water and have a relatively healthy diet, can't do cardio for medical reasons
i see
thank you 🐰
No. 8 minutes? First of all, 8 minutes of anything that isn't super extreme cardio won't do you any good. Also, doing a plank for 8 minutes continuously is very hard to do unless you're a trained athlete
i'm able to do it continuously, i alternate between bent and straight arms

Not at all...
It's all about the energy you spend..
Fat to sugars, sugars to fuel, fuel to energy and energy to movement...
Basically you need to eat exectly how much you need to survive + a little bit more carbohydrates to enjoy the day with energy, a and a bit more to burn while exercising..
Don't eat too much shit.
Eat fiber (vegetables).
And by the way plank doesn't do nothing when it comes to burning fat...
And you should get your legs a little closer to the rest of your body, like a triangle for more muscle impact...
I will contribute, since the force you need to do it consumes energy.
If you can plank for 10 min you're better than I Coco, I do it for 30-40 secs as part of an exercise routine.
In 10 min you'll never conserve enough energy to have a significant impact on weight...
Your goals will not be met with one big change. If you want to make a real, healthy, difference for yourself it will have be intensive and in depth. No one work out will do it for you. You need to train, eat, and rest right. If you set your goals, figure out how to train eat and rest for those goals, and employ that with spirit and discipline you will make a difference. That's how you will burn fat
You're better off walking for an hour a day at a good Pace with no stopping and totally cleaning up your diet then 8 minutes of planks. If you want you can also walk with heavy hands those are light weights you can carry and swing around with your hands when walking. if it's getting to cold in your area there's always the mall you can walk in
Definitely not, weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise. If you want to lose weight, it's best you do some cardio. When you are doing planks, you're toughening your abdominals, not losing the fat there. You'll have to eat well, eat less than you can burn, do the cardio, and do all sorts of ab exercises to train your upper, lower and side abs. It's a long journey, and 1 month isn't much
If you don't like certain areas you need to train these areas.
I used to do zumba and even people I don't know were commenting on how my body changed.
Don't worry about getting visible muscles as they need ridiculous amount of training to get them.
i really doubt you're gonna see any weight loss unless you're also doing some cardio or following a very strict ass diet while doing this.
other than that I can see other benefits like perhaps a better posture or a tighter midsection.
can't do cardio, medical reasons
For abs, it's more beneficial to do intervals. Switch up between different abs exercises every minute or so. If done with correct form, planks become ineffective after about 2 minutes.
It is a good way to maintain a strong core but cardio is the best way to lose weight and once you have lost in and have a good diet then the effect of that core exercise will show itself (also lift weights)
can't do cardio, don't want any increase in size
my ex-wife. aerobics and I taught martial arts and we both were gym rats quite often trying to sculpt our bodies. static exercise or the above exercise, does not burn enough calories to lose weight sorry. those are the facts
yes if you do 8-minutes of planks daily... In addition to eating well... you should see some weight loss
If you do planks and stay active in other ways then you add should see some gradual toning and weight loss
8 minutes of exercise will not be significant enough to impact weight loss in most cases. Diet is key.
if you can actually do 8 minutes continuously then I think so, but then again I'm sure that if you can do that you're pretty healthy and strong anyway.
Any physical activity is good, but for results, you need generally 30-45 mins a day of exercise. And more than 1.
No, I think you have to dial in the food you’re eating and do more than just planks.
I think if you skip the exercise altogether and just eat way less you will lose weight guaranteed without putting in half the work.
meant fat loss, not weight loss
have unintentionally done that for periods of time, didn't notice a change in amount of fat
on the otherhand i've also gone through periods of eating a lot of high cal foods and don't gain weight or fat
i've never been overweight to begin with, therefore never dieted.
recently found out (gov't stats) that my weight has always been lower than the average japanese female of the same height
The thing is to lose fat you have to eat fat. If you eat less food but not enough fat your body makes its own fat to burn and in the long run you put more fat back on you because of it
8 minutes of straight planking is good but that alone is not something that is gonna give you amazing abs. However if that is included in a larger workout and you have a good diet then absolutely.
i don't want abs.
Throughout the body, no. You may see some abs if you're skinny though
i don't want visible muscles. i want entire body to have less fat pad
Planks alone won't help lose weight, but it's a good exercise for your routine. Activate your cardio.
heart problem, was told not to do cardio by several docs since being diagnosed
