As an exercise science major, let me try and explain this.
Short answer: Its great that you're walking that much, however, there are much more effective ways to lose weight. Also, you could end up damaging your joints if you keep that up.
1. Number of steps doesn't actually matter that much for losing weight (although it does help somewhat). The thing that matters is getting your heart rate up. (Jumping jacks or jogging would be better)
2. What you eat and how much you eat is more important than the amount you work out. Running a mile burns off around 1 piece of bread. I'm not saying that you shouldn't exercise, just that food intake is much more important.
3. Building muscle can help you burn weight more effectively in the long-term. I would suggest doing bodyweight and core exercises along with whatever cardio you do.
4. Don't eat chemicals. This means soda, candy, anything with 0 calories other than water, processed foods like gogurt, etc. I would also suggest staying away from sugar and bleached flour.
4. Swimming is the best form of cardio out there because there is no joint impact. If you continue walking 20000 steps per day, you'll probably end up wearing out your joints. Trust me, it's not worth it.
Hope this helps!

i think it sucks balls 4 most people. i dont care if its 100k steps. da problem is that most people dont actually wanna do it for the rest of their lives, and every time they force themselves to do it, they dont wanna push themselves and beat any former records. they are doing a routine. they aren't training like a real athlete. theyre putting in the motions just 2 say they did it and hope for a summer body or numbers moving down on da scale

Walking does help with the calves, hips and waist. I think a good 4-5 blocks around the neighborhood is good.
It certainly couldn't hurt. And you are doing way more than average so hopefully you will see some results
Whether you walked or ran those 20K steps, they're incredibly good.
That's a good start. Maintain that exercise, but also monitor your intake. Keep true foods a must, while lessening fast food and processed foods.
How to lose weight. Consume less calories then your body uses. There is no magic thing that is going to make you lose weight.
That's not bad to start off with, but try to gradually increase your steps to as much as 10,000 steps a day (if possible). And combine that with a healthy diet.
If that doesn't work try 40000 steps a day. If your legs or feet are sore you have achieved something. Try something more aerobic.
any kind of cardio is better than nothing so yea id say so
Drink ice too. That's how I lost weight. I think... Ice is good, drink it. Take a deep breath. BREATHE IT IN.
No steps is good for weight loss. Go do some real exercise and stop shoveling twinkies down your throat.
Depends on what your diet is. It helps, but walking alone probably won't give the results you want.
