It's very rare and only found in about 3-5% of people suffering from the illness. The onset is usually between age 18-25.

I believe Elisa Lahm suffered from it, because the way she was acting in the elevator before her death in the inaccessible water tank, she was holding strange postures and sidestepping and moving position.

You know what causes catatonia, don't you? it's excessive thinking and abnormal mind chatter that sends the brain into overload and they are so focused on it that they can't move position

I agree most Schizophrenics are actually quite clever too, They just suffer from a debilitating mental illness of thought disorder.
They are not what the media paint them out to be, There's not enough awareness for Schizophrenia, and there many forms of it and different degrees of severity.
Most schizophrenics are not violent, but may just have violent thoughts.

I made a lot of apprentecips in hospitals for psychological diseases in collegue because I had psychology as main subject. So yes I have experience with this illness. It not funny

I had sleep paralysis a few times when my manic state was crashing in my mild bi polar - I tried a new course of meds but one of the side effects was vivid dreams so when they were put on top of manic dreams it wasn't pleasant - I had a recurring dream about someone putting plastic over my head to stop me breathing I would wake from the fright but the sleep paralysis would keep me in the dream maybe 30 seconds more while being wide awake unable to move.

They are actually very different then portrayed by the media most are intellectual and function fine for long periods. Bi-polar people are actually considered more dangerous and unstable then schizophrenics are.
