Question about lip rings?

ok so I got my lip pierced about 3 months ago

I got a stainless steel horseshoe lip ring in the mail yesterday and today it is so sore.. I got my lip pierced with a stud. so is this normal for it to hurt to the touch? or do I need to take it out and change it?

I don't know very much about piercings, but did you sanitize your new ring before using it for the first time? Also, is it swollen or enflamed at all?

I don't believe it should be hurting and you may want to have a doctor look at it incase you are getting an infection.

yeah I washed it... I think it hurts because I got it done with a stud... and this is a hoop so its just getting used to it :)

Thats totally normal don't worry about it. when I first switched to a lip ring it hurt pretty bad just because my lip was used to the straight stud and the lip ring was all new to my recovering piercing lol don't stress it ;)

changing the shape of the jewelry can hurt. but if I were you I would go to a qualified piercer and make sure it's fitting correctly.

Stinging where the needle came through is normal during the first day or so. swelling of your lip, and a small amount of blood on the inside of your piercing is also normal. A normal piercing could hurt for a few days. The swelling is usually only temporary, about a few days. Since piercing are technically wounds, don’t play with the ring with dirty fingers and keep your mouth clean try to use antiseptic mouthwash after every time you eat and drink something.
