Some 5,800 Americans contracted COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated against the virus that causes it, federal officials said Thursday.

The Americans got the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes COVID-19, despite getting two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) told The Epoch Times via email.

Of the 5,800 fully vaccinated people who were confirmed as so-called breakthrough cases, nearly 400 required treatment at hospitals and 74 died.

A little over 40 percent of the infections were in people 60 years of age or older and 65 percent were female. A state-by-state breakdown was not available.

The figures were for cases through April 13.

More than 78 million people have been fully vaccinated in the United States as of April 15.

If we do the maths, that is 0.0074 pct. of the vaccinated population who contracted the disease (or 99.99 pct. protection!).
It has at no point been kept a secret that none of the vaccines were 100 pct. effective. Considering that the highest protection rate is set to be somewhere around 92-95 pct., I think these numbers are amazing.

If we use the global number of cases from John Hopkins University and the global population from a Google search (data from 2019), we get 1.8 pct. of the world being infected so far. So while some will still get the disease and some of those will die, the vaccine will greatly reduce the number of people getting ill or dying.

The CDC said from the beginning that the vaccine does not prevent you from getting or spreading the virus. It just protects you from symptoms. Y'know. Like a vaccine does.

For comparison, 75,267 people who were not vaccinated contracted the virus yesterday, alone. 932 unvaccinated people died from covid yesterday, alone. Now, I'm not a scientist, but 932 in a day seems like a much bigger number than 74 in a month.

With a 90% effective rate, its completely normal and predictable that some vaccinated people will still contract the virus... and a handful may still die. What’s the point of this information? Did you expect perfection? The overall benefit is still enormous.

1) The vaccines aren't 100% effective at preventing infection or death, no vaccines offer that.

2) The vaccines take time to offer the full potential immunity. It takes weeks. You could be vaccinated today and infected tomorrow, before the vaccine can offer its full protection.

If something doesn't work 100% of the time it doesn't remove the validity of using it. If that we're the case then goodbye contraceptives, goodbye heart surgery, goodbye any surgery, goodbye medicine...
