I prefer a gym if I could be magically transported to one like Star Trek. For a start, they have superior equipment with so many weights adjustable to the point where I can micro-load with my progressions.
That said, I find it difficult to motivate myself all year round to pack my gym bag and drive and go. So I tend to spend more time working out at home and around. I favor mostly calisthenics like push-up variations, pull-ups, body rows, dips, stair climbing, gymnastics rings, hand grippers, lunges, pistol squats, calf raises, etc. For bodyweight motions, I use a weighted vest to make them harder.
So I tend to go to the gym just on my motivated seasons (typically spring and summer) and I favor heavy-lifts (squats, DLs, bench, overhead press, BB row) at the gym with barbells. The problem with calisthenics is that I can't add that much additional resistance to my body or fine-tune the resistance so easily. My weighted vest only goes up to 35kg.

I like both. I have a lot of great equipment in my gym at home. Which is great for when it’s not convenient to go out. But I do like the vibe of being in a public gym with other people working out.
Home gym! It's cheaper than gym memberships, and I enjoy being able to work out at my own pace without people around bothering me.
I have pretty much everything at my house to workout: various dumbbells, kettlebell, jump rope (weighted and regular), punching bag, treadmill, trampoline, and I follow several trainers on youtube that teach everything from strength training to yoga!
I thought about rejoining a gym when the epidemic dies down again but nah, I'm still losing weight just fine working out at home.
I’m at home yoga after work. Try to do at least 30 minutes and aim for 60.

I have only had the opportunity to use the “public” gym (twenty four hour fitness). They were convenient and on my way home from gym, and had much more than a home gym does. But a home gym would be more convenient as far as using it anytime. Could come home, change, exercise, shower, without dealing with the gym shower and possible infections on the floor or curtains.
I used a Total Gym for a few months. I was surprised at how well it worked. I went back to the gym a few weeks ago but still plan to work the Total Gym into my program.
Most of my stuff is from running, and some stuff I set up in the garden.
however with my daughter moving in with me, I’ve started setting up the far side of garage as a workout area for her with kick bags and other training stuff. At a public gym with friends is always fun or if at a friend's home gym isn't bad either ;)
home, i walk 2 miles every morn then 10 miles bike before bed
Cool home gym :)
Anyway, I prefer working out at home. Too many idiots in gyms.
The only conceivable benefits of gyms I can think of is nice honeys for a bit of eye candy.I prefer working out at home , don’t have to worry about anyone using the equipment I want to use and I can blare my music without having to wear headphones lol
Prefer the gym. I have more equipment there and more exercise capabilities with the space for different workouts.
I do all my lightweight stuff and yoga at home, but I prefer leg day at the gym because I don’t have all that equipment not have room for it
I really miss public gym. I just do cardio at home now
Really I don't dislike either. But if I am going to use weights or machines I would say a gym. Simply because I don't have any of that at home. I do a lot of bodyweight workouts at home though.
I got a machine that you can put the rear wheel of your bike on and peddle in place. Best part is:
No excess bouncing and if you have a fan and spray bottle, boobs make awesome radiators :)I would kill for a home gym
I prefer to workout at the gym.
I have a punching bad, a pull up bar and some weights at some so I do sometimes train at home, but nothing beats the gym.Home gym, it's cheaper because I have all the equipment I need.
I prefer the gym, but have cardio equipment at home
Depends on if the gym has a pool I can swim in. lol
Working at home is ideal to lose your motivation within a week.
As a guy, I'd like to go to the public ones not just to exercise but to check out beautiful women with asses to die for.
Public gym. Less distractions and more competitive drive
