I think I'd stand a decent chance. I'm not the hugest or strongest guy but my 1RM for a DB bicep curl is 35kg (~77lbs). I also used to compete in arm wrestling contests when I was younger. I wasn't the best but I understand the mechanics and leverage of it which goes beyond raw strength. There's a technique to it.

Biceps are kind of my weak point though. I tend to excel more at pushing motions than pull:
But I've been trying to strengthen them over recent years.
If I go for 10 reps with a 1-arm DB curl, maybe I can manage around 28kg or ~61 lbs before I reach my max. I've been training for many years though. One thing I recommend if you want to accelerate your DB curls is train at a 1-5 rep set with very long rests in between. You can just sort of curl around a house or office and take even like 10 min breaks in between. Then curl just for 1-5 reps, take a long rest, repeat throughout the day.
Some inspiration from epic arm wrestler. I wanna be like that!

20 years ago, I would say yes. Or at least I would have given you a fair fight. I was only beat twice. One was a 7 foot tall Seminole guy. The other was a professional arm wrestler. But each arm wrestling contest took 5-10 minutes. I put down the 5 time Florida state Bronco busting champion, both arms, twice.
Now, I don't know. I haven't arm wrestled in years.
I don't have any freeweights handy. All I can say is that I was huge into competeing when I was younger, and was practing for an ironman competition. I was either bicycling or running 20 miles/day. 9 miles in the morning going to work, and 9 miles home at the end of day, plus 2 miles after work to go to the food store then back home.
Dangggggggggg nice I am on a work out kick to increase my arm mass. Way to go and prob not unless I felt my life was in danger then I am not to be messed with.
Wait 20lbs, or 220lbs? Because if itβs 20lbs, Iβm definitely stronger than you, BUTβ¦ I donβt actually believe you can only lift 20lbs
Well I CAN do 50, but I choose to do 35 because I want firm, I want toned, what I donβt want is muscles!
Benching 1/2 my body weight is not exactly a miraculous thing. Especially when I see the men at the gym bench at LEAST their own body weight. It just takes repetition, perseverance, and time. I donβt do much on the machines, I just do my calfβs, my butt, my boobs, my thighs, and my arms. The rest is just treadmill, or elliptical. Whatever is available when Iβm ready. Iβm still very young, I donβt really work out for my looks today, I work out so I stay looking good for as long as possible in the future.
yeah too much is not as attractive to me personally. It's good to be strong and look hot but there a limit. Looks don't matter much but in that area I wouldn't really be attacted to a guy that is overboard in that department. Some mean on the bones or toned like you is what looks good to me.
ermmm... if I may, I believe @ser89 is referring to "lift" as in "curl" and @CrazyGirl2 is talking about benching.. these are two very different exercises. Benching a person can usually bench their body weight, but very few people can curl their body weight with one arm. Even curling 50lb with proper form (not throwing your hip into it and ducking under the weight, but slowly using only your bicep muscle to lift the weight) is pretty impressive. I usually curl 35-40lb in 10-12 reps for 3 sets.
@Bside Yes! π―% agree! I am definitely not attracted to guys with more muscles than sense. I figure, if you are not smart enough to stop when you canβt put you arms by your side anymore, wellβ¦. Youβre basically a Darwin Award just waiting to happen at that point, and Iβd rather not be in the vicinity when it all goes down ! Lol π
Ps. Yes, a nice toned swimmers bodyβ¦. Nothing sexier! (Basically whatever Chris Pine, or Chris Hemsworth look like, thatβs perfect enough for me ππΌ.
@zeitgeist057 @CrazyGirl2 yes, biceps curl
@zeitgeist057 @ser89 Yes, Iβm taking about benching, I donβt even do curls precisely because I DONβt want to βbulk-upβ. Just stay toned and feminine.
yeah that's what I thought. You're talking about benching 35 lbs which is not even benching the bar which is usually 45 lb. ser89 was talking about arm wrestling, which does uses the biceps muscle, so he referred to a biceps exercise where he curls 35 lbs. Two different muscle groups. So to say he's weak because you bench more than he curls, is like saying you're slow because it takes you longer to swim 5 km than it takes me to walk a mile.
@zeitgeist057 Actually sweetie, I never once said he was weak, I didnβt so much as even use language which so much as hinted at my belief that he was weakβ¦. I actually wrote the exact opposite, and in-fact verbalized that I didnβt believe he was only capable of lifting 20 lbs.
@CrazyGirl2 my mistake, no harm meant. :) My point wasn't really about you calling him weak or not, more that you two were talking about two different exercises.
@zeitgeist057 Right, two different exercisesβ¦ but again, just to be clear, I didnβt call him weak. I didnβt even hint at it, if anything I called BS that he could only bench 20lbs. Iβm a 5ft 1in woman, weighing less than 100 lbsβ¦ I would NEVER even THINK that I was stronger than a man. Which again, is why I didnβt believe that he could only bench 20lbs.
@CrazyGirl2 the majority of adult men are able to bench YOU. lol
@zeitgeist057 AH yes, but VERY few would GET to.
@CrazyGirl2 ah yes hand placement for the exercise is a bit on the intimate side :)
@zeitgeist057 Just I bit, I would imagine, anyway. Donβt get me wrong, as a competitive cheerleader, Iβve had more than a few guys (and girls) end up accidentally causing their hand to become a de facto seat. But I was able to refuse to compete with any lifers if it seemed to be happening way too much, or (god forbid) if their thumb started moving left and right!
@CrazyGirl2 sounds like a fun kink. I had my eye on joining the local acroyoga group for a minute, but I'm single and got shy about it, and never found the time.
@zeitgeist057 I have no idea what youβre talking about. Competitive cheerleading is not a βkinkβ itβs a highly competitive sport. And when Iβm on the very top of a pyramid, itβs like standing out of a second floor window ledge of a buildingβ¦ itβs extremely dangerous! So when Iβm tossed up on to the shoulders of the two who will hold me, and I slip, sometimes a hand in an uncomfortable place is the only way to stop me falling 15ft! So, no itβs not a kink, itβs actually rather painful, and as soon as Iβm steady, obviously theyβll move their grip back to the appropriate position.
@CrazyGirl2 I wasn't serious, I get that you're a competitive athlete.
@zeitgeist057 Thank you for the clarification. I appreciate that.

I lifted two 15 pound dumbbells (total of 30 pounds) 400 times straight in one set. And I am not in nearly as good of shape as I used to be.
A 7th grade girl student of mine lifted those same two 15 pound dumbbells 16 times straight, and a 7th grade guy lifted them 22 times straight.
oh damn that's amazing
20lbs? I know some little kids who can beat you. They lift more than that in elementary PE class 😂🤣
Who even asked you all of that lol. You sound a bit insecure putting others down. Is how people get self esteem that have none. it's not hard to be positive it's more motivation for the other person. I disagree. he looks pretty strong to me. Who was trying to impress you? He asked a simple question. Not all about you lol. Not very nice and you went their for no reason and he corrected the 20lbs dang.
@Bside im not bullying shit. He asked if he can beat us and i reminded him that even kids lift 20 pound weights and i highly doubt it. So i answered his question. Why tf youβre commenting on my shit? I dont know cause i dont recall asking you jack. You clearly just dont like my opinion. Have a good day mate
I don't know how much wheel bearings, rotors, struts.. those are the weights I lift everyday lol. I help lift the transfer case here and there. I'm not that strong tho!
I will wear heels and stick one foot close to something sensitive on you and then smile.
Iβm sure you will let me win? 😁
Can't lose at that point π
Unless that 20 lbs is a typo, I'm pretty sure half this site can beat you.
I said yes... I mean 20 lbs for 10 reps... That's like me when I was 10 years old.
Bicep curling only 20lbs? You need to see a doctor dude. I'm serious.
Probably, I basically do this at work all the time with a heavy lever for bundling rebar.
I'm pretty sure I could beat you. 😜
yes i would definitely kick your ass
No, I can't beat you.
My wife could beat you.
Sure I can try, lol.
Yeah, I use to be on track as a thrower, but then I got a blood clot and still working out with it until my foster mother took me to the hospital because of my boyfriend and her mother-in-law. I have been trying to rebuild my strength and lose weight due to that/health problem. No pain no game. So far 20-30 pound weights my boyfriend and my dad weights. Dog food is 50 pounds and I have broken down of foster mother full wooden door frame door with bear strength before my blood clot. So, maybe I can not 100% but always room to get stronger and better.
Keep up the good work tho!
I am more likely still weaker compared to you. I still have a lot to work on.
Yes, yes I can 😌
Im actual 1Million years old and have been training for all those years
Do you workout?
@moonlight992 Every other day
Cool, how much weight can you lift?
@moonlight992 I need my lawyer to answer that question
I was just curious, how strong you areπ, bc you can beat him in armwrestling.
@moonlight992 That may be the case but I'll still need my lawyers present
Even my little dog can beat you lol.😂😂
Nahh
I will beat you
