There's a chance of ectopic pregnancy or uterine perforation and the implant migrating somewhere weird.
This is really only a good option where poverty or mental illness makes using the pill impossible.
As for tubal ligation, it should be a voluntary only procedure and never forced under duress as has been often the case in US prisons.
Yeah but getting an IUD is one of the most painful experiences I have ever had. There's no numbing, you only get ibuprofen for pain relief. I bled for an entire month after. Heavily. My periods have not been the same since. I get clots sometimes bigger than a quarter, but my period is almost entirely just clots now.
That sounds awful sorry to hear that. I hear different things from women about the IUD, good and bad. I use the pill but I’ve thought of getting onto something more effective eventually.
Yeah unfortunately I didn't have much choice in the matter. It was either immediate tubal ligation or an IUD. I chose IUD because I want to go through the process of collecting my eggs before.
Yes, I did. If/when I have to start using birth control then I want an IUD to be my go to method. I want to do anything I can to avoid getting pregnant because I'm not ready to have a child.
