Do you think technology (modern science) can prevent miscarriages and stillbirths?

I wonder if modern science and its technology will one day make it possible for all pregnant women (those that were look forward to having their baby/babies) to have a healthy and safe pregnancy without a single miscarriage nor stillbirth taking place. Can miscarriages and stillbirth one day be prevented from every happening?

I feel terrible for the ladies that wanted their child so badly and the baby dies. It happened to my best friend last year and she's still traumatized about the stillbirth. She lost her identical twin boys just a week shy of the scheduled C-section.

Can technology do something about it one day to prevent that from every happening?

Ever? I don't know but I'm skeptical. Now? It cannot. Those events are most often a result of a fatal genetic defect. Did you know that at least half of all human fertolizations end in fetal death? Most happen quickly. Those late periods followed by heavy menstruation? That was a pregnancy.

yeah it's like all of us here are indeed a miracle. Just to think being born is a miracle itself.

I feel for my friend. No comforting words can make her feel better. Even worse is her babies died when she was already on her 32rd week of pregnant, so close.

That is a serious loss, I'm sorry for her. Currently we do not have the technology to repair the genetic defects that cause late term fetal death. Sometimes we can detect the presence of these conditions and the best we can do is terminate the pregnancy. Now in some of the United States that's illegal.

It's called the miracle of life. You are starting with a single cell splitting and splitting exponentially. Skipping a beat is disastrous. Even altering one step could cascade even worse down the line.

Lot of science is trial and error so I don't think people have the willpower to reinvent birth. It's starts getting grimpdark pretty quickly.

Sometimes life isn't fair. Sometimes my friend still has nightmares about the day she lost her twin boys.

There are advancements in medicine every day. I know someone that had premature twin babies that were almost 3 month premature. They were so tiny yet the nurses knew exactly how to take care of them like they do it every day which I guess they do, These babies are normal 2 year old boys, running around and eating up a storm.

That's awesome. They're lucky to have wonderful nurses. I'm glad to hear they've grown to healthy toddlers. I wish I could help out my friend more. Sometimes she has the same nightmares of when the nurse said her babies had no heartbeat anymore.

No. Modern medicine can help Mother Nature, but one of the beauties of life is that it's imperfect.

That's sad. My friend is still struggling with the loss of her twin boys. She wanted them so badly. Not fair. She can't explain what on earth she ever did wrong. She followed a healthy life and good nutrition; did everything her doctor told her to.

@Marblesxoxo I understand. My then-wife and I lost 2 boys, separate pregnancies, to miscarriage. It was heart-breaking for us. But we didn't give up trying. And eventually, we had 2 sons and a daughter.

yes the technology exists but doctors can engage in medical malpractice to prove a political point

there is a time which is right now. we have the best health technology yet sicker than ever. if everyone was healthy, the medical industry wouldn't be needed as much. big pharma needs money and gotten greedy and corrupt by teaming up with big food to poison us (RFK Jr will expose this)

the abortion industry needs abortions to sustain themselves which is why they have no integrity but to lie to women about needing one to justify their funding and existence otherwise they go broke

Given how common they are (especially early stage miscarriage) and how complex the initial growth phase of the embryo is, I'd say either "no" or it very, VERY far into the future.

It's even sadder when it's almost close to the due date when the baby dies suddenly; just when everything for the baby was ready, so close to celebrating that day.

I can't imagine passing the early stage, making it to the 8th-9th month and it being a stillborn.

They died when she was 32 weeks pregnant.

Wow--that's awful. My wife had one but it was first trimester. Still sucks, but not nearly so bad.

It's cool. We had a daughter shortly thereafter. And that's the wild thing. Had we not have had the miscarriage, my daughter wouldn't have been born. Someone else would have. Wild!
