How important is skin color/flawlessness?

I am a Southeastern Asian girl and so my skin is darker than most, and I also have some allergy problems that cause my skin to be very dry a lot of the times (but only in some areas like my neck or arms) so it causes rashes sometimes. I am very very self-conscious about my skin and I hate it a lot... I just have to wonder if it bothers other people or not. My boyfriend tells me I'm still sexy and beautiful and such, but I just can't agree.

I used to be really self conscious about my skin, not the texture, but the color. I basically grew up thinking that no one liked me because I wasn't white. My brother and sister are pale (Ex. Anne Hathaway) while I was always super dark (Ex. Penelope Cruz). It used to drive me crazy and I hated myself for it. Growing up in an all white community didn't help either.

Once high school started, it mattered less to me because I realized we are how we are because of where we've come from and what the people in our past have been through. I'm very proud to be darker than most of my peers now. (Plus, it was funny for me being tan year round and seeing little, orange oompa loompas fretting over the price of their tans.)

Skin color is normally irrelevant, however, there are always those people who prefer light skin or those few who prefer dark(er) skin.

As for flawlessness, it's pretty irrelevant to most guys :) I know girls with severe acne who have boyfriends, so it hasn't stopped them.

If possible, maybe see a dermatologist if you're so insecure about it hun.

LOL! Females always seem to think the weirdest things are going to stop us (as you put it) ..and other times they do things that cause us to flee for the hills and can't figure out why...the "flee things" are usually personality, character or even mannerisms...I mean if you have a mole on your face that causes one of us extreme stress...that guy will just not ask that girl out...and, once he gets your clothes off...he is not usually predisposed to dislike what he sees...

I love Asian women. I work with a lot of dark skin Asian women.there skin is amazing-Its beautiful to me-and your boyfriend too I'm sure. My daughter is half philippino and has darker skin but she inherited a little ezema from me. she has the dry rashes on her elbows and neck. she is only 4 - she is beautiful of coarse. try not to take hot showers and put lotion on- mine cleared up with age-- a little cortizone cream helps --I bet you are absolutley beautiful, but I won't disrespect you or my fiance to see any pictures-haha- but please don't worry

This is so typical...go ahead and hate yourself & lose sleep...I cannot stop u...but most males will not care...it is a "female thing" your skin would NEVER EVER stop me from dating or marrying u...

I'm very fair and I don't tan. I also tend to get rashes and bruise easy. My boyfriend says the same things about me. I think it's all about the confidence. Just don't worry too much about it.

It's very important to me but unfortunately my skin sucks which is why I spend so much on skin care products
