Have you ever been to a cardiologist?

I've been having chest pain and I have an appointment tomorrow with a cardiologist (first time ever). I don't know what to except, and it's making me really nervous. How was your experience?

I go every year. I have been seeing one since I was your age because I was diagnosed with a rare connective tissue disease called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Heart problems are common in EDS. They check your blood pressure and get a good family and personal medical history. They may do an EKG where they attach 12 sticky patches and connect wire leads. You have to be real still for a few minutes and they can tell how your heart is doing from the EKG. In your case you probably have costochondritis which is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone. It's caused by shallow breathing when stressed.

I'd rather not know what I have and just die when it's my time. Rather than living a potentially longer life but knowing you're going die for sure from some disease

They will talk to you and MMMMaybe authorize some tests at a later date.
First and foremost, your blood pressure will be checked as will your pulse and "pulse-ox". Pretty much every doctor does that anyway, but your blood pressure without medication is a leading indicator of cardiovascular disease. They will take it from there. You MAY later take a "stress test".
