How soon after wisdom teeth removal can I eat apples again?

I had my wisdom teeth removed a week ago, and we're approaching the apple season. My favorites are McIntosh, some of the softest ones out there. How soon can I eat apples again? What about peanut butter?

Once the gums have healed.
Don't risk a dry socket. They're not fun.

It took me one week, but mine were impacted and had to be cut out.
