Bleeding gums - first day of wearing a retainer?

Heya,
So I’ve finished my invisalign treatment for my lower arch and today I wore the retainer for the first time.
I obviously expected it to be uncomfortable as it needs a couple of days for the tray to be adjusted to the arch properly, but it is VERY uncomfortable and a bit painful.
As I took it off to eat, a part of the front gum started bleeding, and even now with the retainer back on, I can see the blood gathered in the gum.
Besides that, I feel like gagging from time to time.

I wanted to make sure if it’s something to consult my orthodontist about or if it’s just me being dramatic. I read different opinions from different people, one side saying it should not happen and the other side saying it’s normal for the first day.

Soft toothbrush and brush gums and floss every other day. Listerine too to help with bleeding and bad breathe from blood.

Both braces and retainer when tightened or new

Consult your orthodontist. Healthy gums should heal in less than three days, if they don't there is a swelling caused by inflammation or that tool doesn't fit correctly.
