I believe you have to enjoy exercising because if you don't enjoy it - you will stop doing it or feel miserable each week of your life. Like me, I love stair climbing but I don't like treadmills, I like walking but hate jogging, I like dancing but hate weight training. Do something you like to do and you can do it for the rest of your life.
Unless you keep it up you will turn to flab again.

I haven’t been to the gym since the beginning of 2020, and I haven’t lost much muscle at all. People still ask me whether I’ve been lifting weights.
The trick to building muscle that stays is lifting heavy with lower reps, rather than lifting lighter with higher reps. Don’t train for “the pump”, train for strength.
There are two types of hypertrophy (muscle growth):
1) sarcoplasmic
2) myofibrilar
Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is an increase in fluid in the muscles. Fluid in the muscles is called sarcoplasm.
Myofibrilar hypertrophy is an increase in muscle fibres.
Training with high reps for the pump leads to sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, training with lower reps and heavier weights leads to myofibrilar hypertrophy.
When you stop training, losing fluid happens a lot faster than losing fibres. It’s obviously easier for fluid to drain than it is for your body to breakdown muscle fibres.
If you do that and then train with bodyweight exercises at home, you shouldn’t lose any muscle mass at all.
Yeah buddy. I'm trying to gain muscles within 6 months. Thanks a lot for the detailed opinion.
Easily doable especially as a newbie. That’s the easiest time to build muscle, they call them “newbie gains”. Just make sure you follow a good routine and that you train the whole body, not just chest arms and abs.
Yes sure. Will train whole body. Thanks again.
It depends on what you eat. My friend looks like he works out even though he stopped seven years ago, but he only eats vegetables.
