How do you think you do when it comes to your diet? Exercise is important to keeping healthy but so is a good, balanced diet. What would you rate yours?

m +1 yI would go with a solid 7, almost 8...
because I do have a balanced diet, and there is nothing I eat in excess... however, I still indulge myself from time to time, with food that is not as healthy but I do this occasionally, not repeatedly
and also, because I do not always eat following a schedule (work and life gets in the way, lmao, that is my excuse) but this does not happen all the time either, for both of the things I always try my best to keep these in check
70 to 80% of the time I will be eating both healthier and properly as well, but I still enjoy some junk food, or, sometimes I eat more than I should perhaps, but I do not see it much of a problem because I am 200 pounds and athletic so all those extra calories will be shredded on the field, or some other way, lol
Holidays are coming though... from November 20 all the way till February 2, there will be a lot of Mexican festivities plus the ones we all know, and that means tons and lots of food, every single weekend, lol114 Reply- +1 y
I'm trying to whip @bigpauly into shape.
- +1 y
I can get him a spot on the field... sports kind of make you want to eat better and healthier, and a lot less junk food, because you will be needing the premium, when it comes to fuel
- +1 y
I am probably 8-9 healthy. Only time I slip is certain time of the month when I need sweets. Other than that, lean meats/proteins and loads for fruits and veggies.
- +1 y
@PrettyPriya I am similar... but I do slip on the weekends, and my issues are the carbs, which also have sugars, lmao...
@bigpauly which shape is that Pauly? there's a few different shapes, lol - +1 y
Running for days only gets him out the door with those little legs.
- +1 y
@bigpauly lmao... I am more of a sprinter, the field is not that long, actually
- +1 y
@bigpauly need great ankles for it
- +1 y
His legs are all ankle.

lmfao...

It's pretty good, but too much sugar. 7-8. overall, we eat really "healthy", avoid fast food, go for quality and cook at home, lots of veg and fruits and grow stuff at home. we eat fat too. We love to eat.
Ilike sweets and that's my downfall. having hot chocolate right now... dang it... thank you to all who grow those cocao seeds!
11 Reply- +1 y
I am very much like you. I would say I am around an 8 out of 10. I do eat very healthy the majority of time but CANNOT give up my chocolate and sweets at times. Thanks!

+1 yI'm sort of in the middle: I eat fairly healthy, and love exercising. I tell anyone that asks my current lifestyle is the reason I'm in shape and lost so much weight.
But on the flipside, I do like the occasional spurgle, and there are some foods that no matter how much I say I'm going to eat right and be healthy, I won't give up-
Which is exactly why I'm healthy, but not fit: I like to eat, LOL21 Reply- +1 y
I eat healthy and exercise a lot too. I also am very much like you a splurge on occasion. Congrats on losing the weight! That is awesome. 🙂
+1 yWe have been eating out a little bit more lately because of busy kids activities and crazy work schedules, so I would say I was healthy the majority of the time with some slip ups. It's almost seasonal at our house, we eat much healthier in the spring and summer than we do around all of the major holidays.
34 Reply- +1 y
Ah yes, the holidays for you folks.
- +1 y
And the good news is, we nearly always cook from scratch if we are cooking at home :-). We do our best to keep away from those pesky preservatives
- +1 y
I agree. Anything made fresh is soooo much better for you, even if not the healthiest of foods. Thanks and enjoy your upcoming holiday!

Pretty healthy. I'm strict about what I eat and I'm not a fan of junk food or eating out (I probably eat out like once every two months). I love fruits and veggies so that's pretty much a lot of what I eat along with nuts, tofu (and other forms of protein), grains (rice, pasta, quinoa). I do like sweets like chocolate but I probably eat that like once or twice a month.
21 Reply- +1 y
I can relate to everything you said. 🙂
+1 yI chose A. I would say I’m very picky with what I eat, and try not to just accept what others are eating as something to compare to my diet. We now know which foods are bad for us and which foods are food for us. We know that the FDA allows unhealthy ingredients in a lot of our foods. With that being said, I feel like a slice of pizza or a hamburger can be part of a very healthy diet. It’s all about moderation.

Moderation... absolutely! 👍

+1 yI think I'm on the middle of b. I don't eat breakfast or lunch but I have a healthy dinner. I don't get energy from food, it makes me tired when I eat. I drink coffee for breakfast and lunch. With dinner I have unsweetened iced or hot tea. Once in a while I'll have a snack
19 Reply- +1 y
I think most will be similar. I cannot claim to be completely healthy all the time.
- +1 y
I'm pretty sure everyone has their cheat moments. You can't eat healthy 100% of the time.
- +1 y
Totally agree. Without tmi, that certain time of the month and I need my sweets. 😞
- +1 y
My wife and daughter are the same way.
- +1 y
Joys of being a girl...
- +1 y
When I see them eat sweets it makes me want some because it looks good. I have to control myself.
- +1 y
Omg I know. My fiancé is the same. Hard for him to resist when I have a bowl of ice cream.
- +1 y
He's lucky he only has to see you eat sweets during your time. I see 2 women and they don't get it at the same time ugh
- +1 y
Double trouble. I get it though. When I still lived at home, my younger sis always craved sweets like me, so I ate them too when she had hers and I didn't.
+1 yI’m not on any specific diet, but I do try to eat a low fat high fiber diet, that is well balanced and the caloric intake matches my daily activity level. Although I’ve gained a little weight recently (mostly due to my being sick and spending 6wks on bed rest), I have certainly not gained nearly as much as I believed I would living a total sedentary lifestyle for close to two months. When I’m healthy, I usually maintain my body within 2 to 5 lbs of where I desire to remain.
10 Reply512 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I eat unhealthy stuff but I don't overdo how much I eat if anything less than I probably should. But I think it balances it.
Energy drinks and coffee are my way of been healthy since Energy drinks have good vitamins in them and coffee been proven to help in many medical ways.
I eat more white meat then red, along with having it usually with veggies or salad.
I often eat as if I am fasting. Though I still drink stuff.10 Reply
+1 yI mean lately I have been slacking and it does show… but I gave up fast food entirely for a few years and would gladly get back to that if I had a little better control of my time… I have been doing bad with time management and bad with diet for about a year now.

+1 yMy diet consists of vegetables and meat for dinner, for Breakfast I have a small bowl of cereals and later on a big bowl of fruit salad. In the afternoon I choose between a small cheat meal or a chocolate bar (Snickers, twix, mars
That's how I maintain my weight and body fat levels
11 Reply- +1 y
So I thought to give you an outlook. It's about 20% junk food and 80% healthy
+1 yIf you include everything that goes into my stomach, then I guess I'll give it an 8 cause I do get out rarely (3-4 days per week) and I will eat something (not big enough and not very "junk" but still). But other than that, I feel great about my diet choices!
10 Reply2.8K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Very much in the middle. I try to eat right and exercise, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I think I'm doing pretty well. I've cut down salt a lot and only eat red meat during the weekend. Over 75% of what I eat is home made, and I rarely eat fast food or deep fried food. I try to keep up on eating fruit and granola bars for snacks. I don't cut carbs completely but I do try to limit them. I use wheat bread and whole wheat tortilla.

+1 yI try to keep healthy. I notice if my food isn't as healthy during the day and I feels awful vaulting, jumping and flipping when I run. The only time I purposely consume sugar is when I'm making icing, using baking clay or whatever, for work.

Make some stuff fresh! Much better for you than take away or eating in restaurant.
- +1 y
I take it you like pizza, right?
- +1 y
Nope, because you can make pizza yourself that is healthier. Can you get even pre-made naan bread at local stores? I have other American friends here that say it is common.
If so, get those. Take olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, basil and mix in bowl. Poor over naan as sauce (or use regular sauce) and slice thin pieces of tomato. Cover with tomato and other toppings and then cheese. Bake. Sorted. Healthier pizza in about 20 minutes. - +1 y
Of course! I have loads of quick recipes all homemade. If you ever want some, you know where to find me. Just DM "Priya, I want chicken" and I will get you sorted with a recipe.

At this point I'm considering going to a dietician. I've tried so many things but nothing had worked.
- +1 y
That is a good plan tbh. Smart!
- +1 y
I saw your profile and it said you work in health care. What would you recommend for weight loss? Intermittent fasting, calorie counting with an app, using a fitness tracker (fitbit/apple watch)
- +1 y
Yes, I do work in healthcare. My father is also a doctor. So, my experience has been fasting is not a good thing, no matter what you might read. Your body needs fuel, every day. Cutting that temporarily doesn't really do much in longterm gains.
What you need to do is set up a plan and stick to it. A dietician can help with that. Even your primary doctor can analyze your diet and exercise routines and make suggestions.
What I would do is keep a very brief log of what you eat over the course of two weeks. You can even do it on your phone. An app that logs that sort of thing is helpful as you suggested. What you want to be able to do is take a look at a big picture of what you consume and target the things that need to change.
You might find your diet stacked with red meats or fatty foods. Then, you can just substitute lean meats in its place. Snacking is another one that gets people. They might look at a 2-3 week period and go "woah" I am eating a lot of sweets or junk food snacks. It is about looking at the whole picture.
Fitness trackers are great! I wear an apple watch ultra all day long because of the battery. It tracks even my sleep patterns (and now cycle). It also gives me motivation to move and "close my rings", which is the exercise goals. Anything that helps you get a picture of where you are lacking is a great tool.
Last thing I will mention is that I would be more than willing to help you with healthy meal alternatives. You can always DM me privately. I have very creative ways to take things that you like and make it healthier. I am bit of a health nut. - +1 y
I just read your response and all I can say is thank you. I really appreciate the advice. You are the nicest person on gag!
