Doing stretches before exercise?

Well you can if you want. But look at the reality of most individuals 😐
First of: Stretching before and after are different motions. The before is more swaying and warming yourself up while the after is longer and more well, stretchy.
As for if you should do it? Absolutely. Done right it never hurts and it helps a lot with heavier exercise sometimes. This is really more like debating if we should use a seatbelt. Sure, you're probably fine without but if you have the option do it. And if you expect to drive dangerously, absolutely do it.
Wow some do and some don't! That is a scenario never heard of before. Just what is the purpose of your question?

The newest 'science' is to warm up and do mobility stuff before and stretch afterward. Preferably when the DOMS kicks in. If you train like me on the regular the soreness from DOMS hits you quicker but dies off before the evening... and it doesn't hit that hard. Some untrained people might not feel it until the next day and then they can't walk right for a week.
you need to warm up before you stretch. Ten minutes on the elliptical or rowing machine will be enough. Then you can stretch.
You should always warm up your muscles and your circulatory system before doing exercise. After a workout, cool down stretches benefit your body and muscles as well.
Anyways stretch
