Why is it a big deal to have a surgery?

Going under the knife seems overrated. Possible reason I can think of is high chances of risks/death. Anything else?

For starters, EVERY single surgeon tries to mitigate any and every risk that can occur while in the OR. They are not going to approve you to have surgery if there is any chance you could code on the table. Surgery is actually very safe.

You always take a chance of death when having surgery. If you're having surgery in a operating room the anastesia alone could kill you if you're allergic to it.

Do you mean elective cosmetic surgery done under general anesthesia? Mostly I agree with you.

I mean unless it's high risk it's over in a flash and you're in recovery
