If I match some but not all of the symptoms of PTSD, does that mean I have it?

I think you need to get off the internet. PTSD is not something you just get. PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You hear of PTSD during times of war or experiences with extremely stressful events. I lived with my Father, a Vietnam Vet who did three tours as a helicopter mechanic. He would go on a ride-along in the helicopter to go retrieve the dead and bloated and wounded. The blood on the floor of the helicopter was inches thick. Many decades after the war was over my Mom was burning strawberry incense, my Father woke-up with a glassed look. He became incensed because he thought he was back in the jungle of Vietnam. They used strawberry incense to disguise the smell of human death. Now that is PTSD. So what traumatic event have you experienced?
What you know about my life tho? I've smelled and seen bodies, I'd rather not speak of it my personal experiences to you, you rubbed me off wrong already
If you have reoccurring flashbacks of a specific event or you avoid places that remind you of a certain event, having nightmares of the event that you can't control that's a good sign
There is also something called complex ptsd which happens over a prolonged period and I believe the symptoms can be slightly different to the standard ptsd. Best bet see a doctor if it bothers you
I mean my brain runs through memories really fast, I don't think it's flashbacks tho
Considering I've felt emotions but don't always express them, I would assume they are suppressed, me showing emotions isn't socially acceptable but it's not really a bad thing cause I kinda like the numbness, it's kept me alive
What can be more damaging if I'm numb, I just choose who to express emotions too, I'm not fully numb lol
I think you need an official diagnosis for that. Feel free to see someone well qualified to give that to you or not
If I do that I lose my rights to bare arms, that's not happening nor is it an option, a mystery it shall remain lol
Well why don’t you get your guns first then get it. Just gotta not tell anyone you have em lol
Or just not get diagnosed with a mental health condition lol
I've lived with it til now, I don't want to be known as crazy when I'm perfectly sane and lose my favorite right in the process
Where are you at where you lose your right to bear arms with PTSD. That's ludicrous. Do you have any idea how many of our vets have PTSD?
Yea but I'm not a vet, I hope you do know that vets get huge benefits and them being restricted to buy a firearm is so socially unacceptable, compared to a civilian, they will take my rights to do so lol
There are no firearms laws that apply to vets that don't apply to civilians. Active military, yes, vets no.
If you have PTSD rated at 100% you can still buy a firearm.
Whoever you're hearing this from or whatever website your reading has likely never bougth a gun.
Show me the legislation that concerns you.
Doesn't ptsd count as a metal illness? If I'm not mistaken anything related to that can prevent gunshops from selling firearms to you.
Mental illness in and of itself is not a disqualifier. People that wash their hands obsessively have a mental illness.
But can't ptsd be dangerous to someone else, or they can see it that way at least
What lead you to believe you got ptsd... was there an event that triggered it?
I've had several events that isn't normal for a person to experience but I don't think it's traumatizing

Not necessarily. Only a professional assessment would be able to tell for sure.
Did you have one or more traumatic events?
Several, I think my first was when I was like 6 to 8 years old when I saw a dead body, I think that's when I realized the world wasn't pretty but it doesn't feel traumatic tbh, just out of the ordinary at that time.
In what context? At a funeral parlor or blown to bits by an IED?
He fell off the building, his scream woke me up like at 3am, In the morning on the way to church he was at the bottom and dudes in white rubber suits were vacuuming the blood, there was drops of blood leaving a trail in the stairwells so it seemed like a fight or struggle
That's a good one for sure. Does this memory still bother you regularly?
It doesn't bother me tho, i think of it at times but as I fell into the street life at 14 things piled up and it all just seems numb, I think of the mystery more than anything, who killed him lol
What I am saying is, if this memory hounds you, you may have PTSD. Or you may have a general anxiety disorder. It's worth talking with your Doctor. Be careful who you mention PTSD to as this can land you on "red flag" lists.
Alright bet so I don't have it lol
