Can you go to a mental hospital for Suicidal Threats meant as blackmail?

Yes.

I can't recall if there's cases of this but I feel fairly certain there's been a few criminal charges which establish a precedent of calling it browbeating and harassment with fines and jail time.

I had people in my past use suicide like a manipulation tactic to try to gain constant friendship and sympathy.

So after two years of running myself ragged for these people, I would just respond with "I believe you" when they threatened to kill themselves.

They never did.

The ones I nearly did lose never made it public. They suffered in silence.

True suicidal thoughts are quiet and insidious, not overly dramatic proclaimations.

If it gets proven by professionally qualified, registered Psychiatrists then it's possible to be sectioned under the mental health act.

Possibly. They definitely deserve it. Threatening to kill yourself to manipulate someone is a horrible thing to do. So maybe going to the hospital and being treated as a suicidal patient would be a wake up call
