The rate went up 4% overall but decreased for children aged 10-14 and males 35 and younger. Women suffered the largest increase.

+1 yI believe one factor that the government has failed to research is that pleasure is ruining people's lives. Girls work out like dogs to look like models and then eat French fries and skip lunch and dinner to meet their quota of calories.
People are eating unhealthy food, watching unhealthy porn, watching morally toxic movies on tv, listening to morally corrupt rappers, partying with drug dealers and abusive guys cause the guy has muscles and money, and they are smoking weed and then crying when their brain damaged minds fail their college exams, and they get attacked by bullies when they are beautiful and get rejected by people they love when they are ugly.
I watched Ava Jules birthday party on YouTube and I thought that these people have no clue what life is about. On your birthday you should be buying a $30 cake and blowing some candles, not spending enough money to buy a truck, for one day of fun. Rich girls like her send people the wrong message about what a normal lifestyle looks like.
An example is that in New York there are twice as many women as men because all these women move to New York hoping to marry a Wall Street banker. In earlier ages, woman could work 14 hour days at a factory and feel perfectly grateful and happy that they had kids and a husband at home. Now you have a whole crowd of people that want BMWs while working less than 5 hours a day.

interesting thoughts here. it kind of reminds me of the buddhist concept of how hope can be damaging like despair. people do want and expect a lot of things. it sounds bad but in some ways it’s good to actually lower your expectations

Or in some cases, it might have to do with abortion laws. Or even poverty and unemployment.
Suicide should be more discussed so it could be prevented. It's still a taboo in most countries.

Everyone seems to have a different theory. Liberals are blaming it on President Trump.
- +1 y
No, I don't think he's the one to blame. This is much much deeper than politics.
- +1 y
Yes, the suicide rate has been going up for the last 20 years
- +1 y
Ironically one of the few periods it went down was when Trump was president. Coincidence?
- +1 y
I don't know about that. I don't believe in coincidences. But it was a good thing.
+1 yWell... Apparently, people are realizing en masse that we've entered a dark period in human history, and women began to catch up to men in this regard. As for the causes of this, I think most have been said for the general problem of suicides, but in the exact case of women, I cannot stress enough how the systemic abuse of men led to a situation when men have a tendency to avoid women, and thus perfectly fine women have trouble finding partners. I think it's the most cruel result of the smear campaign against men, a global one. It's also a grim reminder that our actions can have unpredictable consequences, what was supposed to make women feel safer basically cut some of them off of interactions with men, resulting in lowering their will to live.

Look at marriage rates. What's happening with marriage rates of Millennials (27-42 years old)? Women dream of getting married and having families since they are little girls. They are very dependent on other's people attention. Without it they get very depressed and fell lonely. Eventually their opportunity window to have children runs out. In contrast men tend to be healthier and happier without the burden of marriage and kids. They are less stressed out. Thus men's suicides in that are range are dropping while women's are rising.

@rigmarole. Still the suicide rate for men is about 4 times what it is for women
- +1 y
People still get married and divorced. Men still have everything taken from them in divorces including their children... Marriage/divorce also isn't the only reason for suicide... Women tend to use family as an excuse as to why they can't commit suicide. They feel it would hurt family members too much so they carry on in depression. But Millennials are now of an age were they start losing parents. If they don't have a spouse and kids they don't have anyone to take into consideration. When women have social acceptance issues they tend to want to off themselves in higher numbers. So if they feel like nobody wants them and their parents pass away, you may see a rise in their suicide rates which is occurring, where as for men big reasons are typically unemployment and loss of relationships. So divorces and loss of children or loss of a job when a family expects them to provide for the family tend to lead to feelings of failure. If you are not married you can get divorced or impact a family and let them down with a job loss in the first place, thus male suicide rates in that age bracket should drop which they are.

You know... When He comes... It might not be all fun and games. Personally, I can't wait for Him, but even though the Apocalypse is not directly related to death and destruction, it's not going to be pretty. Quite a lot of people are living as if He did not exist, they will have the scare of their lives.
- +1 y
haha... I mean people need to have a savior in their life since their brain is under so much stress it decides to destroy a, typically, healthy body. it's generally speaking... emotional problems...
+1 yhmm women have typically used less violent means (pills instead of guns). i wonder if something has changed here. women also tend to seek support. i guess feelings of emptiness must be on the rise. it sounds trite, but i think social media could definitely factor in.

I wonder if all of these women were single?
My personal experience is the reason why I am going to say this. I think because it is very hard to find a job these days. If you aren't computer literate it could be impossible. Everything is done by computers now.
Plus there is so much competition just for one job. Last I heard it was pretty high. If you don't speak Spanish and only English, that's another strike against you. The employer's want bi-lingual.
I wonder if these women were mostly white, non-Spanish speaking women?
Plus if you want to work in healthcare or something, you need money to pay for schooling. Add on transportation - cars are so expensive, so they have a transportation problem and riding the bus to a job interview is hard.
These are some of the problems I ran into when looking for a job. If you aren't working and don't have support from family, well, it could drive them to want to check out.
I won't even get into the relationship thing. That's more than I can write about. - +1 y

That isn't at all funny about women want yo leave a good looking corpse. Shame on you!!!
Gee's, straighten up ok? - +1 y
@sage2021 it really is true. Women hardly ever jump off a building or eat a gun because of the mess they make. and if they do jump off a building the take off their glasses first. They will take pills ot else hang themselves and they usually do it with a bedsheet instead of a rope so it does not scratch up their neck. sorry if it was offensive to you but it is based in fact.
- +1 y
@exitseven
Oh, so you've interviewed dead women to see if they took pills because they didn't want to leave a mess - ah ha.
What about the women that slit their wrists and leave a bloody mess?
7, this is not a subject you nor I have any personal expertise in, admit it.
A friend of mine I once worked with committed suicide. She was very attractive. She followed instructions from a manual on how to do it. She chugged down enough liquor to be drunk and pass out. But before passing out she tied a plastic bag around her head so when she passed out she would suffocate to death.
So you hit a nerve there. I don't think Michelle was even flesh colored the next day when the cops found her. And she was a vein woman.
Please let's not talk about this again. - +1 y
@exitseven
Ok then.

@sage2021 What @exitseven said is statistically true. Women are far less likely to leave a "prettier corpse" than a man. Now as to whether it's BECAUSE they want a pretty corpse of they are seeking a way they perceive as less painful, that can arguably be debated, but there are significant differences in the ways men and women choose to self-select out of life, and the ways that women choose are also the ones that damage the appearance of the body less. As for your wrist question, yes it's messy at the time but it also means open casket is quite possible, hence a pretty corpse. A shotgun to the face doesn't do that. I DO actually deal with suicide a pretty good amount, and there's plenty of research to back it up. Check out the bibliographic sources here, for instance:

@BoopBoopBeep I used to sell police equipment so i knew hundreds of cops. One day I was in a police station and the guys were looking over some photos of a suicide. This guy went into the bathroom where he worked and got two M-80s (https://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/M-80_(explosive)) and twisted the fuses together. He put the thing in his mouth and lit the fuse. It blew his head off. In the picture you could see his eyeball that landed on the toilet seat. It was really gross.
One of the cops had to go to the guy's house and tell his wife. His wife just looked at him and haid "He did it with the M-80s , right?" - +1 y

Generally women attempt suicide more than men but they are less successful so there are more overall male suicides.
The reason most suicidal women fail is the methods they use such as overdosing. I would reason the 4% extra female suicide victims are women who have found a more surer way of ending it all.

+1 yThe pressure of life / loss of hope. Hopefully not the start of a long term trend.
Of course men are still far more likely to so this.
"The gender gap remained wide in 2022, with 23.1 deaths per 100,000 men and 5.9 deaths per 100,000 women. Elderly men were at especially high risk: Among men ages 75 and older, the suicide rate (43.7 deaths per 100,000) was roughly twice as high as for young males ages 15 to 24 (21.6 deaths per 100,000)."

11 ReplyA lot of Millennial women chose not to have children to “save the planet.” By middle age, the consequences to women who don’t have children are emotional disturbance similar to PTSD. Turns out working for the man isn’t so fulfilling after all.
21 ReplyWell first mental health is not taken serious enough. Second the stress of life, everything in life is getting more and more expensive. Third sever depression because of all the b. s. More people, more problems, more single people not finding someone etc.

Likewise men are remaining single. Ergo since they don't have a partner they're a lot less stressed. And have less expectations on them. Just the normal responsibilities of being a man. And he is used to that.
