If abortion is a mother privilige, why do french only allow until start of second trimester?

i think they think it is not mother privilige so they split the time as a compromise. if need do before fetus development.

what is your opinion? why 14 or 12 week limit?

It's not a privilege, it's a right. You have a right not to carry a pregnancy if you do not want to. There's a limit in place because we are human and we have emotions. Personally I think elective abortions should be done before 20 weeks. A fetus is not viable at their point. Most are done way before this anyway. Ones done after like 10 weeks are generally not "elective" they are but they aren't. generally they are wanted babies who unfortunately have issues which would significantly inhibit their and their families quality of life.

Because the more you restrict abortions the more common they are and the more dangerous they become.

Quality of life does not mean money? What. Quality of life meaning the child would not be able to have a normal life, be reliant on their parents or caregivers for life. Possibly not survive their birth, or first day, week, month, year of life.

I don’t know the right answer to this. To me abortion is wrong in most scenarios and the only reason I think it should be legal is for the extreme situations that occur.

Not sure that’s why. At one time practice was to do surgical abortion later to be more effective. It’s become moot with medical abortion.

sounds like mocking.. but even conservatives allow access when ma in danger. the compromise law passed in THE house 2016, even allows for rape victims despite not mediclly necessary because it is an extreme situation. but that does not justify most abortions that do not have these factors.
