It's interesting to see the phrase "what can be done can be undone" being used. I'm sure irony is not the intention.
The point of the anti-abortion argument is that what can be done - killing a baby in utero - can't be undone. Once that unique human life has been executed before it has a chance to grow up and cure cancer you can't "unabort" it.
Recently my wife and I had to make the decision whether to have the remaining embryos from the IVF cycle that gave us the son we adore destroyed or continue storing them knowing at 50 she can't carry another baby to term.
The decision is the hardest thing we've ever had to make - and these have never been implanted to try to let them develop. My heart breaks thinking about it. My son could have had a sibling. Except I'm 52 in a couple of weeks and missing a leg.
I'd rather see the right to life enshrined in a constitution and the sense to make a choice about having a child being made before the child is made.
So go ahead and block me. I'm sure people will. It's unpopular to make people think about the less popular possibilities of sex after the orgasm
Not surprised. France is and has been the most liberal nation in history. Liberalism is everywhere, it is the breakdown and a failure of society. It preys on the weak, and the meek in a society.
Most world Constitutions are a piece of paper that changes literally every 40-50 years. The US Constitution is the only true constitution because, it literally has a bill of rights not for those in power, but actually for the "people", and has stood for nearly 250 years.
Abortion is not a right, it is a cop out, an excuse. The further we get from basic human rights, given to us by God, the further down a dark path we go. A path to the end.
"We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect UNION, establish JUSTICE, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the COMMON defense, promote the general Welfare, and Secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America"
They were powerful words in 1789, and the still are today...
I think it is great, but what can be done can be undone.
Sadly, we have to go this far to ensure a basic human right.
And please no lessons from "good thinking" religious persons. Up to the 1970s and even the beginning 1980s, in Ireland, single mothers were going to get help from the church to give birth and give up their child for adoption. The newborns were killed there just after they were born with no father.
I support the right to abortion but I don't support constitutions. To me they allow a small group of people to impose their views on millions for centuries to come and that doesn't sit well with me.
France has long been seen as a tolerant country so I wonder what's caused them to suddenly feel the need to lock abortion into a Constitution.

Whatever. I'm not a religious nut so it doesn't bother me. I'm in favor of women's rights and free choice. I have no problem with abortion as long as there are limitations.
It's ironic that many of the people who wail about fetuses cheer when innocent men, women and children are slaughtered.
When abortion isn't legal it isn't safe.
I am very much for the right to have abortion widely available for medical emergencies and rape. Just not as a use of frequent birth control. Proud of France.

Making abortion legal or allowing it for anything outside of medical issues is a major issue abortion should only be used if the life of the mother is endangered by the pregnancy. By making it legal with no restriction it encourages further degeneration of sex, relationships, etc. If a woman is legally allowed to abort then a man should legally be allowed to press charges for first degree murder for the murder of his child if he feels it was murder

@handsomelad70 yup. Such a dumb thing to pass. Abortion was originally implemented as a means to save the mothers life from a potentially life threatening pregnancy. Which is entirely fair and reasonable. But just because Mandy, Brandy and Candi. Can't keep their damn legs closed or find decent guys to be with doesn't mean they should be able to terminate the pregnancy what if the father wants it? He doesn't get a say that is what happens and that is ridiculous if she doesn't want the kid she can abort it and he has no say but if she wants the kid and he doesn't he still has to pay child support. Nope. If abortion is legal then any man that wants out is out no questions asked the woman has no say

I support it, I have a feeling they wanted in the constitution due to the potential influx of non French people that may in say 10 years result in some laws changing. It’s a good move.
they didn't specify which week. french law still forbids abortion "during second trimester" the constitution refers to first trimester!
Constitution or laws is mostly the same things here, it's just to make himself look good (because in France majority of people are in favor of abortion).
