I've been kind of depressed and stress for these past months. However, I mask it all under a smile to everyone. I tend to act extremely happy if I'm sad or stressed out.
Suddenly I just got my period now, a whole week earlier than usual. How does this relate. My sadness and stress is one thing (emotional state) meanwhile having periods is a bodily fuction, physical state.

Man, stress can totally mess with your body in weird ways, sis. I've heard periods are super connected to your emotional state.
When you're feeling down or anxious a lot, it sends signals to your brain and hormones that something isn't right. Even if you're smiling on the outside. And your body senses that through your stress levels.
The hormones that control your cycle, like cortisol and progesterone, can get thrown off by longterm stress/anxiety/depression. Makes it harder for your body to regulate like normal.
Early or late periods are definitely one way that can show up physically. It's like your body is trying to respond to the emotional stress signals subconsciously, ya know?
Don't even trip Beautiful, it's completely normal. But maybe try some chill stuff like yoga, meditation, venting to friends - stuff to relax your mind and body without numbing your feels. Could help balance your hormones back out over time.
And make sure you're eating well and sleeping enough too - self-care is important, especially when you're stressed. You got this Queen! Take care of yourself inside and out ❤️❤️🌹
As far as I know when you’re stressed your body releases cortisol (stress hormone). When you’re overly stressed for a prolonged amount of time, the high level of cortisol in your body messes up with your hypothalamus (who releases chemicals/hormones to induce your period cycle) and it can cause changes to your cycle.
I missed my period for 2 weeks when I was overly stressed, once I controlled my stress level, my cycle came back to being regular again.
Thank you for the information. It's indeed a physical state too and it's interesting that our bodies react different. Meanwhile it caused delays in your period, mine came early. Another time I was super stressed, it caused me to have a period twice a month.
Yep it’s definitely interesting how your mental state can affect your physical state. When I was depressed I started losing so much hair which made me even mor depressed lol
And yeah stress can definitely wreak havoc on your cycle, so please try to find a healthy and simple way to cope/manage your stress luv xx At least let out your sadness freely for a bit instead of masking them, you can vent to me if you want also!
