What remedies did you partake in to get rid of the annoying cough?
I’ve been coughing for a week now because of the flu. Just had to let it run its course.
I mean, I HATE getting sick.
Was chugging ginger water, was gulping globs of honey, was slurping cups of tea, was popping vitamins daily… still had to let it run its course though. Have been hating it every bit.
For a sick cough, I say attack the attackers as soon as you get hint of them. A tickle in your throat? ATTACK THAT THING
gargle hot salt water, try apple cider vinegar, gargle hydrogen peroxide, eat oranges. I mean. Do not let it stay and linger in your throat. It’ll only spread and you’ll start to feel the worst of it as it progresses.
As for a random cough. Could be a dry throat. Maybe your living space has very dry air from heating units and there’s no moist air/ humidity/ or cool air circulation or so.
The number one thing is to seriously hydrate. The throat is irritated. Keeping it hydrated will do wonders. Second best thing is keeping it coated. Some nice honey. A cup of milk or milk tea. Nothing too irritating.
and from then on keep it moist. Trying some throat lozenges/ cough drops can help.
If all else fails? Cough medicine and a meeting with the primary doctor.
Also while hydrating- ☝️ maybe consider in investing in an air mister or so humidifier or consider making a diy one and just adding water.
This way no matter how much you hydrate, you won’t go dry at night when you’re sleeping and not hydrating and the dry air gets to you.
The overnight can be the biggest culprit. Many times I woke up with my throat all dry and such.
Also see if you have any allergies with the doctor. Maybe allergy medicine can help remedy.
For me, it’s sneezing. As soon as I wake up, 6 sneezers in a row MINIMUN before I can start the day. And throughout the day. I used to think it was spring allergies until it followed me throughout fall/winter and now rolling back into spring. Allergy medication does nothing.
@electromagnetic. Have you ever had the full allergic reaction test done? I did and discovered I was allergic to pretty much planet earth. It's worth getting the test done and perhaps doing immunotherapy.
@KrakenAttackin I’ve never done one before. The most I’ve had was a ketamine test to see if I was allergic once my brother reacted after he broke his arm. Thank you for the advice. I’ll probably do that. Wouldn’t hurt.
Quite recently. I had a stubborn sinus infection and was on antibiotics for three weeks. The infection subsided but I had a persistent cough. I just happened to have my annual physical scheduled in that time and asked my primary for tessalon perles (benzonatate,) which is a cough suppressant. It has worked very well.
I actually just went off my antibiotics and my viral infection is gone but damn this cough just won't go away. Doctor gave me a cough suppressant but any form of moving or exercising makes me cough even though i take that shit which to me isn't working
My cough hung on for about three weeks after the infection cleared, which was about four days after I started taking the benzonatate.
Yes I am on the 2nd week of my infection clearing up so I am hoping it subsides here soon
For four months after my father's Feb.26,1990 passing. It was diagnosed as bronchitis.
Why were you given antibiotics? Antibiotics are USELESS against a virus. Antibiotics are for killing bacteria, not viruses! Willy-nilly prescribing antibiotics for viral infections simply increases the likelihood that bacteria in the environment will become more resistant to antibiotics, as has already happened in some cases.
It wasn’t a virus as it responded to levofloxacin very quickly.
I gargle Wild Turkey 101 whiskey
LOL My dad used to drink Rock and Rye for such things

I think I did... can't remember entirely because if I did, it was a long time ago. I always do the same things to help with my throat. Try not to cough because coughing makes it worse. Pretty obvious sounding, but when people have a cough, they usually just give in and let it out. I also have lots of honey, even by the spoon. And pineapple. Pineapple has a component in it called bromelaine and that is anti-inflammatory and is better than cough syrup naturally. Bromelaine is mostly found in the core of pineapple, so if you're not a fan of eating the core, just try blending it into juice.
That kind of cough could be a symptom of a lot of bad things, like emphysema or lung cancer. If you have a persistent cough, a trip to the doctor is highly recommended.
I tried mixing tea with 5 different types of honey, and I tried 7 different brands of tea. The four that helped the most were the tetley medicinal teas that recently came on the market and a very expensive brand of Chinese green tea that costs 30 times more than gas station green teas, mixed with honey. I also do positive meditation by watching comedians online or looking at pictures of cute animals, I believe laughter and joy have healing properties.
got one now. take chinese cough med and go outside to exercise it out of my lungs.
possibly see Dr. if bacterial so don't turn into pneumonia.
others I know have same... it's a virus thingie.
I used to get a really bad cold every winter. I would get a cough that went on for months. I just tried to ignore it and cough all the time.
That is me now just trying to ignore it
Yes for a long time and found out it was from evergreens. Imagine living in the evergreen state and having mild allergies from evergreens. It's gone now. Maybe I just got used to it.
I was in Oregon for like a month and couldn't breath at all while I was there... crazy
Not much, mostly just an annoyingly runny nose that WILL NOT stop draining into my throat or out of my nose, having to blow my nose and spit dozens of times a day and, for some reason, a need to sneeze a couple dozen times a day for no reason at all!! Everything's perfectly fine, considering and, for NO reason at all, I get a tickle inside my nose and have to sneeze 2 or 3 times! If I was fine for the previous hour or two, why did I suddenly have to sneeze, then?
Not really unless I was really sick and had to take antibiotics since you have an infection going on. People with long Covid go through that also and pneumonia
Why don't you just ask ChatGPT, as you usually do?
Good idea
Yes, for cripes sake... and damn, it did go away!!!
Yeah I went to urgent care to get antibiotics. Turned out it was a secondary infection.
Only when I carelessly swallow something down the wrong pipe
Yes I have had one of those for a week now. Nothing I have tried really makes a difference.
Yes. I think it’s because I smoke and vape. So whenever I get sick, my cough tends to linger for a while.
last time I was sick, I was coughing for months afterwards.
are you supposed to take care of it lol i have had a cough for a while and it's kinda just normal now
Not me personally but many family members have and the best remedy has always been plenty of hot drinks with honey.
homemade onion syrup
Say what?
Get some chest x-rays coach
I have and it is usually a deep lung infection of some kind. If it won't go away (as in for over a month), go get antibiotics.
If over the counter medicine doesn't stop it , I usually just try hard not to cough
I think like a few years ago I did
nope... I rarely get those
No, but sneezes... the sneezes...
Only with allergy.
Yeah
