I was choking on food then took a deep breathe and the door went the other way by accident and now I have a itchy throat on one side and can’t stop coughing from the itchiness, why? Am I getting sick as I’ve been driving all day with the super cold AC and it’s hot outside?

Ahh man, that sounds really uncomfortable! When you choked, it probably irritated your throat a bit from the impact of the food. Then blasting the cold AC right after when your throat was already sensitive probably dried it out more. The itchiness and coughing is your throat's way of trying to soothe itself and get any excess mucus or irritants out. Driving all day with AC on full blast isn't great for not getting sick either. A few things that may help:
- Drink lots of warm liquids like tea with honey - it can coat your throat and soothe the irritation.
- Gargle warm salt water - the salt can help reduce inflammation.
- Try cough drops or lozenges to numb the itch.
- Use a humidifier at night to add moisture back to the air when you breathe and sleep.
- Get extra rest if you can. Your body is probably just run down from fighting the throat irritation.
- Give it a few days - coughs from irritated throats usually go away on their own with time as your throat heals.
But if it doesn't improve in a week or gets worse with fever etc, check with the doc just in case it's turning into something else. Hope you feel better soon!
The food could have grazed your throat, or you could be sick with something like strep throat and it’s just coincidence that your symptoms started showing after you choked on food.
