I've had gastroparesis since 1999 - about 25 years.
I have learned the hard way that I can't eat the same amount of food like I did prior to getting gastroparesis. I still kept eating the same amount of food for many years, then suffer for doing that.
My abdomen gets so swollen and painful most of the time - like even today and all I had was a cup of coffee ☕ with milk and sugar in it and had to lay in bed and surgery in pain and no energy.
So, these days I eat the same thing every day. I have two chicken thighs and take off the breading and the skin, no salt either - about 5 bites of macaroni salad and Hawaiian fruit punch to drink.
If I eat 3 thighs, I suffer and have to lay down for hours, so it's not worth it to eat an extra thigh.
I also drink a bottle of a nutrition shake called Ensure to supplement what my food doesn't have to keep me healthy. I like the vanilla one.
This seems to be the perfect amount of food and the supplement shake have cut down on my pain and bloating.
I have a Dodge mini-van.
