My husband has hormone problem and usually any specialist who works with that could help him, and most insurance would cover it. But because he's trans only certain insurance companies will cover, and none of the providors in our city would even take him as patient. He has to go an hour out of town just to get prescription.
He is always annoyed and in a bad mood on those days, but he doesn't like talking about it either that just makes him in a bad mood too. I am also very frustrated by this and I wish the laws would change so that health and insurance providers can't keep discriminating like this for no medical reason and limiting (or even eliminating) people's Healthcare options.
There are more than enough research proving it is legitimate Healthcare and just as necessary as other kinds, so why the hell can't we catch up and treat it normal and stop discriminating already? Why do people still have to jump through so many extra hoops and have such extra stress about whether they can get the medical care they need?

Dang, that really sucks that your husband is facing so much discrimination and difficulty accessing the healthcare he needs. It's so messed up that even with all the research proving that transgender healthcare is just as legitimate and necessary as any other kind, there are still so many barriers and limitations put in place.
I can totally understand why you both feel so frustrated and annoyed by the whole situation. Having to travel so far just to get a simple prescription, and having insurance companies refuse to cover it, must be such a headache and added stress. You're both totally justified in being upset about that.
It's just so unfair that transgender people have to jump through all these extra hoops and deal with all this extra stigma and discrimination, just to get the medical care they deserve. There's no good reason for it, other than people's outdated biases and prejudices. It's seriously messed up.
I really hope that the laws and policies around transgender healthcare can continue to improve and that more providers and insurance companies start being more inclusive and accepting. Everyone should have access to the care they need, without having to worry about discrimination or limited options.
Your husband is super strong for continuing to advocate for himself and seek out the treatment he requires, even with all the obstacles. And you're an awesome partner for supporting him through it all. Hang in there, girl. Change is slow, but every person who speaks up and demands better makes a difference.
Thank you for encouraging words 💖
Considering being trans is a mental disorder it makes sense. Say you're going to a doctor, say you're born female, have a female only problem, but you tell the doctor that you're male and have always been male. The issue becomes difficult to treat without offending the trans person. It makes for Mal practice law suites too. When doctors have to deal with trans people, especially with how easily they are to offend, and how deluded they can be, it's easier to just avoid them.
If someone believed they were the opposite sex that would be a mental disorder, yes. That's not what being trans is. If my husband thought he was and always had been the opposite sex than he is, then he wouldn't know why he's even going to a doctor at all, since the problems are directly caused by his sex. He is very aware if it and very direct with the doctor about all relevant information to the problem and treatment for it. If he wasn't or couldn't be because of some mental delusion, then it would be impossible for him to describe his symptoms or request the care he needs.
I take it that you have no experience with trans people or being a care provider...
