How do I get an almost 2 year old to brush their teeth?

Ar first he was really intrigued, now he refuses to open his mouth to brush his teeth. Is there a trick to this or is he still too young? His doctor says he should be brushing his teeth twice a day... but he refuses I have to force his mouth open and I feel bad doing that

Its your kid, you should know what works best to get him to do what he's supposed to do. It won't be different from having to go to bed for example. If you need to be stern be stern. If dad needs to handle it let dad handle it. If rewards work give a reward. But ultimately show the kid some things just have to be done.

I used ot brush their teeth and sooner or later they figured it out on their own when they were ready

I used to do "roar like a dinosaur". They were really into dinosaurs though.
